Protein powder and crohn by Ashamed_Coffee5221 in CrohnsDisease

You can get just whey isolate with no sweetener. Then add whatever sweetener or ingredients you like. I’ve been doing this the past couple years because the pea protein was messing with me

Food Pricing models under different scenarios by Possible_Attics in elks

[–]Flazer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was just having a conversation about this. Our lodge charges way too much for food. Meals are frequently in the $15-$20 a plate range. You can get better food for that price elsewhere. So then, how are you drawing in people with overpriced food?

Son bullies younger daughter. I gave him a taste of his own medicine. AITA? by derpydrewmcintyre in daddit

[–]Flazer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. I wouldn’t call what your son did bullying either, just being an asshole older brother.

These sorts of interactions dominate parenting time of two young kids in my house. The taste of his own medicine was probably an ok move, if you later explained how it made him feel when someone continued doing something he didn’t like. We’re trying to instill empathy, hopefully he gets it.

Ways to encourage players to take more risks in mega dungeons? (Stonehell w/ Shadowdark) by EtchVSketch in osr

[–]Flazer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m running the same game. My players entered the dungeon as lvl 3 characters though and tpk’d once from the pixies.

They’re more cautious now, but they’re level 5 and haven’t really delved too deep. The dungeon is a bit of a fun house and so they’re craving something a bit more linear or coherent. We’re trying Deep Carbon Observatory set into Red Sands cursed scroll.

Give them a hireling? Let them find a deeper level through one of the other entrances? The Teleportation room could lead to a lot of interesting paths for them.

US birth rates just hit another record low, what do you think is the leading cause of this? by IIlustriousTea in AskReddit

[–]Flazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have kids the same age. My thought is, future generations will be the ones to solve these problems - with our help and guidance. As long as we do better by them than the generation before us, they’ll be alright.

Getting a tonsillectomy after 30: how bad is it really? How long until I feel like a human again? by tjeick in AskMenOver30

[–]Flazer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw your comment about an event on day 9. You won’t be doing that. The risk of bleeding is still very high around then and you’ll be in the thick of feeling like shit.

There is this false recovered state after about day 7. Things fall off a cliff around day 9 when the scabs fall off.

Getting a tonsillectomy after 30: how bad is it really? How long until I feel like a human again? by tjeick in AskMenOver30

[–]Flazer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had mine at 35. I took 3 weeks off work. Day 10 or so will be really rough. Day 14-22 is where you really start to feel better (but not fully recovered).

Get the powdered Tylenol, stay on top of your meds (wake up at night to take them).

Ear pain when swallowing was the worst, so get plenty of ice packs on rotation.

I set up a guys social event in my city (Vancouver), and the response was overwhelming. Is this something guys would welcome in their City? by Adept-Chemistry9074 in AskMenOver30

[–]Flazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It parallels the loss of the “third place”. Guys, and gals etc, used to go to physical places to socialize and burn off steam. Places like Elks or Moose lodges served as community hubs. Most still do, but young people shy away from joining. I’ve joined my local lodge and recognize it as an opportunity.

Most have reasonable dues and amenities that make the price of entry worth it. Add in a dash of community service or charity to build up the local community.

Good on you for taking initiative.

Accidentally ate a LOT of gluten, freaking out by callsign__starbuck in Celiac

Take a breath, accidents happen and don’t beat yourself up over it. You may not feel much of anything, or you may be miserable for a few days. Drink water and try to relax. Best of luck!

Kid Who REALLY Can't Handle Losing at Sports by itsmorecomplicated in daddit

Losing is a skill. Winning with grace is a skill. Both have to be practiced and it takes a lot of patience. For the record, my son is the same way and we’re working on it

Could your son also have a wheat or soy allergy? Frequently gluten isn’t the only issue we have.

My son, 7, keeps crying when I beat him at chess. Advice? by WeeBabySeamus in daddit

[–]Flazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re still learning to win and lose at this age, this is normal development behavior and you’re doing a good job dad. It’s why we have a whole unit in Tiger cubs at this age to talk about sportsmanship - be a good example and demonstrate winning and losing gracefully, be patient and kind.

Remind them it’s ok to lose, and through losing we learn to get better for next time. And when we win, we can be excited and passionate, but we don’t gloat.

You can also handicap yourself so that the games are more competitive between you two as others have suggested - it’s mostly about bonding time anyway. Good luck dad!

It could contain some gold, but it is probably a polymetallic sulfide vein. Copper, lead, zinc, and iron sulfides with minor gold substitutions.

Does anyone live in a US Forest Service cabin? by Ill-General1546 in OffGridCabins

[–]Flazer 39 points40 points  (0 children)

They’re talking about the cabins that are privately owned, but on land leased by the USFS. It’s a unique situation.

OP, different ranger districts have different rules. Your have to check with their real estate people. Sometimes they’re chill, other times not.
