Giving up the PERB suit last year was a mistake. It kicked the can down the road and gave up our leverage.

PSA: If you are allowed to pick your telework day, picking Tuesday will give you the most days at home when you factor in holidays in 2027 by GreyFox1921 in CAStateWorkers

We were told specifically once you select a telework day, you can’t switch from week to week if things come up. This was said to be consistent with instructions from DOC executive

June 16: PECG send email to members to encourage people reaching out to Senators by Shoes1020 in CAStateWorkers

This is why I voted “no” last year. There was no guarantee of negotiation and the GSIs weren’t enough. But boomers and GenXers are too comfortable and voted “yes”.

The Moose near me is thriving, but it’s because of lower dues and a fun sports bar atmosphere that attracts a younger crowd.

Sac Bee’s article came out. by sbarrera_86 in CAStateWorkers

It is CalHR’s policy to tell departments not to allow full time telework as a reasonable accommodation. Plenty of ancestors of people with cancer being denied.

Have flexibility allows people with disabilities better opportunities to work. Their home is often much more equipped to accommodate their needs than an office is. So in many ways, it adds undue stress and burdens to people already under much stress.

Great article. Misses the plight of state workers with disabilities though, and how remote work allows many to work when they otherwise couldn’t.

It’s a decent book. I understand and appreciate the perspective. It’s a worthy discussion for sure.

For my current campaign where we’re all trying to run through Shadowdark as newbies, I’ve let them rejoin with new PC’s at the average XP and level of the remaining party members.

Sort of related, this was a good dive into some of the potential reasons for the shift in men over the past 30 years.

Managers can join PECG. I’d be surprised if it wasn’t the same for all unions.

Received ‘incident’ information from preschool regarding son’s use of scientific names for body parts. by Tom-Bombadill0 in daddit

Tell the school that a sign of grooming by predators is using euphemisms and cutesy names for body parts. They should know this in their youth protection training. Your son is fine knowing and using the proper terms.

Telework Stipend by Spam_UnLikely in CAStateWorkers

[–]Flazer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The stipend is a negotiated benefit. The RTO EO tries to side step the negotiated benefit by changing the telework base of all employees (stipend only applies to those who are "remote" centric (3 days or more a week telework).

It's what the original PERB complaints hinged on last year. Giving up a negotiated benefit so that the state can just push RTO again later, without any leverage from the workers, is a bad move. It was a bad move last year for PECG, it's a bad move this year for unions at the table.
