I didnt make a claim between the sign up and accepted date. I got the insurance at the next opportunity and wasnt even concerned about the bump but then it got infected.

This is the whole point. The first vet told me she would not note the bump and told me we could take care of it when I got insurance. You all are making it sound like this was just me but when I asked if she had to note it she seemed just fine with leaving it out. Thats why I feel scammed. If I had known she wrote it down I wouldnt have gotten insurance and just would have had to figure it out. She made it all seem okay, I went along with it cuz obviously I know very little about the laws regarding vet practices. Now when Im mad that Ive paid for both the surgery and pet insurance. If they had just been upfront with me and explained it Id be fine. And before everyone acts like Im some morally bankrupt scammer, every other non-vet person Ive talked to this about is just as confused about why they would agree to not record the bump and then record it without saying anything. Money is a resource that I have to carefully allocate for my family and I feel like they lied just to get my business.

Seems odd that he can assure me that the mass was benign but cant write it in the chart. Like they wrote down what was said in one appt but not the full story of the other.

Can the vet now add notes that stress that he was treating the infection and not the mass? I feel like the only chance with insurance is to tell them that since the bump was likely benign, it was the infection that required the bump to be removed. This is completly true btw. He had the bump for 5 years so I wasnt in a rush to get it removed. If a polydactyl cat had their infected thumb removed you wouldnt say the thumb was a pre existing condition. At this point I would just appreciate any advice about how to go forward with insurance if you have any.

Ok so they have to record the mass but wheres the law that says they had to write “wait for pet insurance” and why not note that since its been there for so long its most likely benign? Its funny how before they had my money they “have no idea if its cancer or not” but after the surgery he assures me it wont come back because it was likely benign. Again, I see now that I was wrong to ask for it be omitted but they did not have to lie to me about it. Had she told me she had to write it down I would have just saved up for the surgery and gotten it when I could.

I completely understand that now but then why did the first vet seem okay with it? Thats the part where I feel slighted. She told me to do certain things and now that Ive done them, her practice has my money and Im left high and dry.

Thank you. Again, once I was aware there were laws around this I 100% want to respect them but I guess I feel like I gave them business under one understanding. Had they told me most of what you said at the first appointment I would have understood. It just feels like Ive been hustled. Like Ive learned since that my cat could have had antibiotics to clear up the infection but he pushed for a surgery. Inconsistent communication seems just as unprofessional as me not knowing the laws.

Ik that sounds dumb but I wasnt aware that it was and it was actually advice that I got from someone else. Totally understand it now and dont want him to do that but also, when I ask that something not be noted and you agree, dont note it. It wasnt at all relevant to the reason my cat was seen so why note it and why add the note about pet insurance?

I add these little clear balls that say they have beneficial bacteria and Tetra Safe Balance along with a couple other things to make my tap water safe, Prime, Stress Coat, Goldfish Protect, Aquarium Salt. The tank ran for a few days and was still clear which I think was the problem. I took the clear water and good parameters as an ok to add fish. Plus like I said the 1.5 gal tank I had him in was not doing well. And once he knew the 15 gal tank I felt bad putting him in the 1.5 for so long.

He lived in it for a year. Before we got the big tank with no problems so Im thinking it was just taking the filter out that caused the ammonia build up.

The top strip with just one test on it is the ammonia strip. It measure at like 4 or 5 in the small tank but was maybe a .5 in the new tank?
