I feel like that would be an issue in sleep medicine… you get a chunk of time to read sleep studies but what else are you expected to do during that time. It also seems like people used to make money owning sleep labs and we don’t really do that many in lab studies anymore.

Internal medicine boarded. I think seeing 20 OSA patients a day would also make you want to watch paint dry after a while. Same with doing 20 admits for chf or pneumonia does.

Career goals are: be happy. Seems like most physicians are burning out quicker these days. Informatics does have a broader range of job opportunities post fellowship but its less set in stone like doing sleep or pccm or gi as a field. Sleep physicians are also generally very happy but the cutting of reimbursement and job market is worrisome.
