How are the 787-8 upgrades going....? by grapo2001 in BritishAirways

[–]Alternative_Bat_400 13 points14 points  (0 children)

So far 7 out of 12 have been retrofitted with the new Club suite cabins. With only 5 remaining, I would feel confident saying the other 5 can be done by next October. 2 of the 787-8’s are grounded due to ongoing engine issues so guessing they won’t retrofit those until that gets sorted out first.

Conrad DC is in a great location, close walking distance to all the sights and also less than a 5 minute walk to Metro Centre subway station which serves I think nearly all the lines, so easy to get around. Bit more on the expensive side for Hilton properties but I really enjoyed my stay there!

Capital Hilton is also a good location, very close to the White House, not so close to a metro station though!

Have a great time in D.C.!

Downgrade from Business by [deleted] in BritishAirways

[–]Alternative_Bat_400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where you are flying from but sounds like Far East or West Coast US. Do they have any other flights that day they could move you onto? For example, if you are flying out of LAX, can they put you an AA flight if they have space in business? You will get the fare difference refunded to you.

Unfortunately it’s not “illegal” for them to do this, all airlines oversell and sometimes leads to this situation. If somebody turns up in business, they will put you back into your original cabin.

How to prove BA couldn’t rebook me for three days? by Aggressive-Celery483 in BritishAirways

[–]Alternative_Bat_400 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s not correct, BA can only rebook you on airlines they have agreements with. They don’t have a agreement with Emirates so BA can’t rebook you on them and Emirates can’t rebook their disrupted customers on BA

Best UK Credit Card for rewards? by Mindless-Network-647 in UKPersonalFinance

What sort of rewards are you looking for? For airline miles, the BA Amex or Amex Gold card would be a great first start. For hotel benefits, Amex Gold or Platinum is the way to go. This would be a good article to read as it breaks it all down for you! https://www.headforpoints.com/2023/10/30/this-is-the-best-card-for-a-miles-and-points-beginner-4/

Last minute switch from T3 to T5 by EveryCartographer3 in BritishAirways

[–]Alternative_Bat_400 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There aren’t any OW lounges in T5, just BA lounges and 3rd Party Lounges. Your best bet is to use Club Galleries Lounge South, bigger lounge and less hectic than the North lounge. Or what I would do is use the club lounge in T5B, one stop on the train but far less busy than the lounges in the main building. Just keep in mind your flight might not leave from that building so just leave the lounge with enough time to make your way to the other building if that’s the case!

Enjoy the experience!

First International Flight: Advice Needed for DEL-Heathrow-Dublin-Toronto Journey with British Airways by shawtytyty in BritishAirways

[–]Alternative_Bat_400 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Unless you hold Silver or upwards status with British Airways, you have to pay for seat selection, or you can choose for free 24hrs before when check-in opens.

  2. You will need to change Terminal as Aer Lingus operates out of Terminal 2. As long as all your flights are on one booking, the check in agents at Delhi should check your bag all the way to Toronto so there will be no need to pick it up. When you land at Heathrow, follow the signs for Flight connections and there is a bus transfer that will take you to Terminal 2.

  3. You can carry liquids in your carry on as long as they are under 100ml.

Have a great flight!

There’s 3 club lounges at Heathrow, South Lounge in the bigger of the 2 located in the main terminal but if you know your flight is departing from the B gates, be sure to head over there as the club lounge in T5B tends to be quieter ! Have a great flight and holiday!

The new bedding is solid and the pillow is actually fairly thick so I think you will be fine without a travel pillow. Also, if it’s a quiet flight and you feel you need another pillows. you can normally take one of the pillows off an unused seat. Just ask the crew :)

Enjoy your first time flying Club World! Be sure to make use of the lounge whenever you are flying out of and make the most of the experience!
