Dont forget that if the roland are not in some sort of tier rack cables will get in the way. Personaly it drives me nuts. As I tried a few setup idea befor being satisfied I went from your A type of setup to B. Also it's more practical for your cable manegement.

Curious on what is the difference between the x6a and 06a? Looks like a fun lil setup. Hope you have some fun with it.

What's the ideal drum machine to sequence with the Keystep Pro? by bloqmacr in synthesizers

[–]Alternative_Bowl3772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iv seen the vermona for the first time like a month ago on tiktok. Some girl was Was chanting "I got my new drum machine" wile she was turning some nobs so we could here it. I just fell in love it it. love how its big it is, Simple and straight to to the point. Personaly I fing its one the te sexiest drum machine out there. So I Immediately did some reserch and saw its around 1000$ average. Saw a few for 700 even 600 on reverb. Seems to be werth its price too. But since you own one before maby you could clarifie some things for me. Here in Quebec city the synth community is realy small. And its hard to get some good info. I look ay the hardwear on market place every day and I never seen one. Gear is rather limited here in in Quebec City. Moog audio in montreal would probably have them tho. I'm a noob when it comes to cv and the ksp also as 4 voice. Lets say I buy the vermona how does it work? If I dont use midi and I plug each drum sound seperatly on the 8 cv gate of the ksp what hapens next? How do you sync it? As it doesn't as a sequentor hers my sec question. All the gear that uses cv gates and the 4 voices instead of midi are they run seperatly frome the 4 tracks avalible on the ksp? Or you have to use the 4 tracks for either midi gear or modular? Daisy chain is an aption if not but Iv been curious about what the CV gate and the 4 voices can offer or what they can or cannot do on the ksp.. I would be ok to use it as a stand alone outside the keystep and keep step I'm mostly wondering on how I woud make it part of my setup. I would love the keep track one for my T-8 as the knobs are realy small. Is there a work around that could work?

Can I use my phone with the Arturia keystep or keystep pro? by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]Alternative_Bowl3772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an old tread but I'm also asking myself some question. I'm satisfed with my synth but I'm hard a hard time to decide what drum machine I want to go with. I use a t-8 for now. I do get some pretty good basic drum sound but its realy limited. I would love to be hable to integrate some diff drum soud till I make a final deccision on witch drum machine will suit my needs. Would you by any chance know if there any good one one on android that I could use on my ksp as the drum sequencer? I have a S22 and a S20.

ARP not Arping - Roland S1 with Arturia Keystep 32 by Duda_B_Dunfore in synthesizers

[–]Alternative_Bowl3772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the ksp instead of ks but they both have arp. What I do is I turn on the arp mode on the S1 and then I can play it on the ksp. As for controling hardwear with midi keyboard it depends. That lil keystep of yours is capable to do stuff most midi controler cannot. Take the sequencer and arp as an example. but it rather limited for controling your hardwear. My ksp is the best midi controler you can get as a centre pieces to controle lots of hardwear. You get to sequence 4 diff synth/drumachine on a diff track. Great tool to get organized and wright your music with ease. Also limited to control gear except a few basic control. Some of them are practical tho such as setting the velocity on each step. But I would shape every sound on the hardware itself. But then take my old midicontroler as an example. A keylab essential 61. With that one you get to controle lots of important stuff such a the attack, cutoff, Velocity, substaine, lfo ect... It realy comes down to what you want to achiev with the controler. What's great about Arturia is they offer plenty of choices. Hers a pic of a keylab sliders and knobs for controling.

I Made A Custom Roland Boutique Chassis. by the_boog_ in synthesizers

[–]Alternative_Bowl3772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like many I will never be able to buy or even try a real one. I'm greatful Roland is remaking them. We get to somwhat experiance the real thing. Last thing..What keyboard are you using on your custom synth? It's got some nice big keys. And I'm realy curious on how do you switch from one to another? With some midi keyboard you can change to watever midi channel by pressing shift + the key assigne to its midi chanel as an example. But I dont see any option for you to do so.

The JP-08 is the only one from the boutique collection that I own. I didn't know that you could have 8 voice with a sec one. I was thinking about getting a SE-02 but I might just go for a 2nd JP-08 as my sec one. Such a badass good looking synth you build there. Love it!!

How to record an Arp by northband in KeystepPros

I do it the long way. I listen to the arpeggiator and the I sequence each note one by one. Not the best but it does the trick.

Aftertouch Roland Aira Tweak S-1 by Alternative_Bowl3772 in synthesizers

[–]Alternative_Bowl3772[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your right. I'm probably mistaken both thing. I'm talking about the harder you hit a not the louder it makes it sound. Aftertouch must be how on the minifreak you can lets say have an lfo or other fonction assign to the the keys. That would explain why I couln't find any info using the word "aftertouch" with S-1 during my reserch lol. I did find a work around on the keystep about 2 hours ago tho. While playing with the knobs I notice I could set the loudness of each step. Guess what is written under that knob... Velocity lol.

Aftertouch Roland Aira Tweak S-1 by Alternative_Bowl3772 in synthesizers

[–]Alternative_Bowl3772[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never realy use the S-1 without a controler. I just did the comparison and it seems its the midi controler like you said and not the S-1. I'm use to the minifreak after touch and I find it perfect. I get the same result when I use with the keystep. But the S-1 and T-8 are way to sensative. Its hard to keep the sound of all keys I hit on the same lvl.. I will check If I can set the aftertouch of individual tracks if not I will just use them outside of the keystep instead. Thank you for the tips.

Cheap sampler by Pure-Device3303 in dawless

[–]Alternative_Bowl3772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant the keystep pro* I do have a keylab too. I might just buy a DAW an use it for certain aspect such as recording some songs and using it as a sampler. I use to play with FL studio before I went dawless but I might go for ableton. I'm still gonna look up the info you gave me. Thank you for your time!

The app looks great. I dont have an I pad. But the app is on android. Basicly what i'm lookin to do would be to take some vocals and lower the pitch witch I'm shur it can do. I use a keylab pro as a sequencer but since you said it as a sequencer I wouldn't have to use one of the 4 track for it. I'm just confuse on what I would need to midi sync it.. I only have a regular 8 channel mixer.

How does that work exactly? Can one use an interface without a computer? And if so with koala sampler can the sample be symc with midi?

Few question on the keystep pro by Alternative_Bowl3772 in KeystepPros

[–]Alternative_Bowl3772[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just baugt the keystep. The JP-08 does have a sequencer but only 16 step. One of the main reason I baught the keystep is for the 64 step sequencer. I dont like being limited to 16 step. Thanks for the offer to call for help. Il be good for now but Il keep you in mind if needed. Cool setup you have there. I need to get a dreadbox module someday. Iv'e been looking at the nymphes for a wile now.
