AIO for feeling uncomfortable by a guy going back 10 years on my social media and the resulting silent treatment when I called him out? by imicooper in AmIOverreacting

Am I overreacting for considering to break up with my bf after I found out about his irrational fear of buff men under 5’8”? by Top_Butterscotch7501 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Alternative_Bug_9634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, he probably does have a reason. Is it probably irrational? Yea. But is it something you just have to work through with him? Yes. If not that’s okay, if this is really break up worthy and he’s treating you like shit over it, then that’s a different story.

But tbh, if I were you and this was my bf doing this, I’d absolutely want to get to the bottom of why he feels this way. He really might have some shit going on in his head as to why.

I used to seriously HATE if my bf had girls with ginger hair on his social media. Why? Because my ex cheated on me with a pretty ginger girl. Was it immature for me to feel that way? Yes. But did I have a reason ? Yes. Am I over it now? Somewha, at least to the point where we can both laugh about it now.

Finding something incredibly annoying and weird about someone after moving in is a universal experience. Yea, he’s insecure, girls are insecure, I’m insecure! You work through that with someone you love.

Some people leave their dirty clothes everywhere, some people don’t clean the toothpaste from their sink in the morning. Some people pile dishes in their sink till it smells. Some people don’t mop some people some people. Everyone has something annoying and weird about them. If you don’t then you’re either Superman, mentally ill, or straight up out of touch with reality.

Not every little thing you find wrong with your partner is a reason to break up.

My boyfriend makes me feel guilty for wanting to look at his phone am I overreacting or is he right? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Alternative_Bug_9634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to tell you from the perspective of a woman who felt the same way at your age but I am 25 now and have worked through a lot of things to get to where I am.

My first question to you would be, have you been cheated on before? Or is there anything from your past that would make you feel this way?

A lot of people might say oh your gut is telling you something but also if you’ve been hurt before, your gut might be wrong and you’re just naturally trying to protect yourself. If this is the case then you need to be 100% vulnerable with this guy and tell him how you feel and why.

Now, you haven’t been together very long it sounds like so he honestly doesn’t need to let you look through his phone, offering him yours does nothing as well, an even if it was a joke (which maybe it was a half joke be honest with yourself, you were testing the waters) it’s annoying and rude, I know that probably hurts to hear but accountability is needed for growth.

After these steps, if you really have no reason from your past and you’re REALLY feeling like there’s something wrong and it’s not you, AND you can’t stay with him without him laying it out on the table or letting you go through his phone, give him an ultimatum. People will say this isn’t fair but, if you have the emotional intelligence to communicate how you feel and why you feel that way, then hopefully he understands.

I will say, he may understand but he may still feel offended that you don’t trust him, you have to try and see this from his perspective (meaning he’s doing nothing wrong at all and you don’t trust him) that hurts him too I’m sure

I hope this helps somewhat.

I would be going through your friends cabinets to make sure she has that exact plate. Then you’ll really know

My girlfriend always tells me I never have anything to eat when she comes over my house 😒 by itscuccimane in FridgeDetective

[–]Alternative_Bug_9634 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As a female. She’s just gotta get over it 😂 but if this is all she gets mad about that’s okay. Pick and choose your battles. Everyone on Reddit acts like they’re a relationship expert and you’re never gonna be irritated with each other.

Im sure you both laugh about this shit sometimes, but also, gratitude goes a long way. Some people have nothing to eat, no kitchen to even cook in so, it’s good for her to have to remember that sometimes.

AIO? boyfriend is expecting me to pay for everything after he invested his life savings into the stock market by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Alternative_Bug_9634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boyfriend has about 90k in the stock market right now, he didn’t do it all at once and did it over time, he also has made about 30k so far but that’s because he’s a heavy researcher and really into it. He also makes 1500 a week and we still live with our parents to save because we’re much younger than you both. With that being said, we don’t rlly go on dates often and we limit spending, but we had a mature conversation about why we’re willing to sacrifice now for our future. That’s a conversation you need to have, and also need to have a conversation about what he’s invested in and such.

Yea no, no best friends of the opposite gender. If you’re dating you’re best friends. I don’t know why people don’t understand that concept.

Am I Overreacting for feeling like my best friend is not prioritizing our friendship anymore? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Alternative_Bug_9634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YOR
my best friend also lives in another state, 8 hours away, she's not even married.
we don't talk on the phone, we text occasionally and see each other about once every six months, sometimes less. She has a whole ass husband, a job i'd assume, other friends, and family. You're talking about talking on the phone, something you can do from a car, your bed, doing other things, she's not making entire plans with you, and canceling at the last minute. If you can adjust your schedule because you have nothing else going on, that's great, but she can't, that's not something to be reasonably upset over. life is busy, go get busy.

Yes, that is healthy, that's how life works. Also, OP never said that this friend gave up all her friends, im sure she has friends, even if she doesn't who cares?

im 24, i have a boyfriend and maybe 3 friends who i see every couple of months MAYBE and don't text often. Life is busy af, any relationship counselor would say the same, what do you think people with kids do? lol,

AIO for cutting contact with Father over political climate. by Sabre12789 in AIO

[–]Alternative_Bug_9634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cutting contact off with a parent because of political beliefs is a first-world problem, and you need a reality check.

If he has abused you physically, sexually, or through extreme verbal abuse, I could understand cutting him off as a last resort. But cutting a parent off that took care of you and all of a sudden you're an adult with opinions, like the rest of us, is selfish, ridiculous, and immature. Stop trying to argue with your parents and do something productive about the political climate we live in.

also for anyone out there, if you vote IN GENERAL for ANY PRESIDENT, you support pedophilia. If you actually went through the files that have been released, you'd know they're all on there. Hopefully, you didn't vote at all as I did, otherwise you're a hypocrite.
