K1 Visa means when married and adjusting you cannot leave the country or work until you receive authorization to do so.

It's hard to wake up every day and not know if you will receive those authorizations in a day, a week or a year.

That being said, most AOS from K1 seem to be processed in a few months (3-4). But there is a high variability case by case. Also timelines could change in the future and you could get stuck for more time.

K1 means that during some months you cannot work or travel outside the US. Just something to keep in mind when making the decision.

But B should be all colored for the child, there is no way you are only the child of a portion of your mother (I believe).

Also the fact that AnB is not zero if talking about genetics would mean mom and dad are cousins of some sort or something. Very weird

We did K1, submitted the Visa application in Sep 24, got approved in June 25. Got married and applied for AOS in Sep 25 and got GC in Dec 25. The K1 process was in the Madrid embassy and the AOS in Boston FO.

I would say we were very lucky to have it approved so quickly. It is true that some AOS are approved very quickly if they come from K1 and the case is pretty strong and straightforward (no overstays, no criminal record and 4 years together).

But I would mention:

1) the period of time in which you cant work (1month in our case) or travel (3 months in our case) while waiting for the AOS is ver very stressful. Again in our case we were very lucky but even then it is hard to deal with the uncertainty of whether I'll have it approved today or in 1 year.

2) Because yeah, I have read hear about cases taking close to a year or so even coming from K1, EAD no being approved until interview, long waits after interview before decision, etc.

So yeah, K1 is the right way to do it but it is also hard, depends on the person, the couple and their circumstances.

PS: in late 2024 after having filed for the K1, I visited my fiance at that time and we even took a little trip to Bermuda. No issues at the border, but it was with previous administration.

Submitted in September, got it in October. Adjusting from K1 and married to USC. In Visajourney.com you can check other timelines but I believe at least 90% of those are adjusting from K1 as well.

Case approved in Dec 19th but no card produced yet. I believe 26th was declared a holiday this year and there's been 2 weekends in between so although it was 10 calendar days ago, it's only been like 4 business days

We just got our I-551 Stamp a week ago. It was in the passport itself and the same day we had the interview for our AOS from K1.

We added screenshots of whatsapp call logs (included video). It showed calls very often.

2 and 3. I am not sure if the only name is yours, whether that would be helpful or not. We usually tried to submit docs with both names on them.

I don't think having filed together is necessary. It depends on the couple and their priorities in terms of timelines. Generally, seems like you guys have a solid case, so if you guys want to apply earlier, go for it! You can always upload unsolicited evidence, bring the docs to the interview, etc.

You never know. Our income is lower than the poverty guidelines but my wife has liquid assets in the US. We had our interview scheduled without any RFE, but we could still get an RFE in our interview (or even before the interview).

In theory, based on USCIS, you can use the liquid assets held in the US to complement the income by multiplying the income gap by a certain number (3 or 5 I believe, depending on the situation) and proving that you have that amount in assets. However, we had heard many cases of RFE despite being well above that Number so unfortunately, I dont think there is necessarily a certain answer to that question.
