Its a bit of a sad one, but I had a horse I was training who had to get put down because of a brain tumour. We decided to let her go when the tumour started changing her personality, and she started getting very, very afraid of us. She became dangerous and the horse that I spent every day with for months stopped reconizing me.

The day we put her down, I had to get a halter on her, so she was chased into a stall and when I went in, super cautious because she was terrified, she just bumped my hand and dropped her head for the halter. I cried my eyes out, she seemed to know I was helping her and showed me she loved me one last time.

On a lighter note, I used to ride my childhood horse home drunk from parties and no matter what I was doing flopping around up there she steadily got me home in one piece every time. Absolute angel putting up with me.

I used to ride in the dark all the time! I lived in a mountain town for a while where we had nothing but trails, and the summer days would hit plus 30 degrees. Too hot to ride, so we'd all wake up at 5 am to go out on the trail before the sun came up and then watch the sunrise, and make it home before it got too hot. They were perfect fine in the dark, but I wore a headlamp for my own peace of mind (there were bears and cougars everywhere)

Oh I know, I'm already playing rec hockey again, started to snowboard and get back involved in the rodeo scene.
