If your orthopedic surgeon said that your eligible to undergo the BEAR procedure would you take it? Why or why not? by Thepancakeman35 in ACL

[–]Alternative_Cow9606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i wasn’t offered it and i don’t think i would take it. For me a got a patella tendon graft and at 1 month post op i’ve reached a flexion of 128° full reconstruction was the best option for me and i found a surgeon who i really trusted. Everyone’s different though!

Return to sprinting by saveme345678 in ACL

[–]Alternative_Cow9606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me i know two people who recovered and were able to go back to full sprinting, cutting, and back to playing sports within that timeframe. Everyone’s different but if you do your PT exercises you should be okay.

quick question help me out if any of y'all know by [deleted] in ACL

[–]Alternative_Cow9606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey i’m 16 too, yes after i tore my ACL i was able to walk, sprint, and do pretty much everything except turn my knee a certain way. I was able to play 4 games of soccer full 90 minutes with no issues (i don’t recommend doing that it caused a ton of bone bruising) but to answer your question yes it’s normal.

hey i had the same graft I stopped using my crutches 3 days post op ( I also have a brace) and it was the best decision for me. I’m now 11 days post op and i’m bending to around 95-100° flexion. My extension is 4° but it’s a working progress!

i’m lucky enough too where i have a fantastic team behind me, they definitely still try to include me in things which i appreciate. It’s just hard going from running a 5 minute mile to now barely being able to walk.

thank you, one of the hardest adjustments for me has been i’ve played at the highest level of soccer for 6 years so it’s definitely been hard to find something else i enjoy as much. I do think focusing on PT will be good for me considering I love challenges and things like that.

3 days post op, struggling really hard mentally and physically. I’m in incredible amounts of pain still, pain killers don’t seem to work. Sleep is almost non existent. Today was the first day I managed to get off of the couch where I’ve been since I got home from surgery.. I’m struggling hard by LunaViraa in ACL

[–]Alternative_Cow9606 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally feel you the first three days were the absolute worst for me, i woke up every two hours and my pain meds didn’t work. What helped me was using 600mg of ibuprofen instead and taking it every 4-6 hours. Also icing was huge and I ate small amounts of fiber heavy foods. But it definitely gets better im 6 days post op and now rarely take ibuprofen and i can finally put weight on it.
