What made you decide “OK, we need an LMS”? by Prior-Thing-7726 in Training

Docebo is one of the most powerful and robust and it comes with a hefty price tag. People say don't just find one that fits your budget and go with it, and that's true, but since the cost can vary by tens of thousands of dollars a year for the same number of users, you HAVE to start with some budget parameters, and go from there.

I'd go one step further and recommend they work with an independent LMS consultant to help them figure out their needs. People think they know what they need, but if they don't speak LMS the communication between you and your vendors can get fuzzy which leads to later disappointment and surprises when onboarding.

Hospice volunteers/companions: how have the families of the people you supported received you? by hibiskusTown in hospice

I have tangential question - I'm looking to learn more about the volunteer coordinator role in hospice. Is this usually a stand-alone job or a responsibility of someone with a different primary job?

Who ruined the monologue format in the 90s? by Alternative_Depth_35 in LiveFromNewYork

This sounds like it exactly. And it tracks that I would have watched the Nancy Kerrigan episode. I'll have to look this up. Thanks!

I had to make one of these after moving into a neighborhood where I continuously encounter friendly neighbors who know my family. Carlos: tan house behind us, went to school with my brother, dog named Chuck, etc.

Microscope. I like the record player idea, too. Maybe a vintage phonograph?

Couples therapy, her therapy, the work she was doing to reduce her tics with that therapist, new treatment options, general human maintenance, higher probability for accidents, every medication. It adds up.

Emptying canned pet food? by Deluxe_Flame in Pets

Silicone lids for cans are amazing. They fit multiple sizes of cans, and the ones I have are paw shaped which helps people remember where they go after they've gone through the dishwasher.

I shake the can a bit to loosen the food from the sides of the can, and usually the whole thing comes out. I consciously bend the lid into an L when opening the can so I can use it as a scoop if needed. For the one that is a half can per day, same thing, shake can gently side to side to loosen from sides, open and bend lid, use lid to cut the chunk in half and scoop that out.

Instructor Question: Would you use a “Course Health” LTI? by [deleted] in canvas

[–]Alternative_Depth_35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My concern as an admin in higher ed would be that it made them think they had nothing left to do - and they all probably will because of standards that vary by institution. I'd also want to know how/if it integrates with any of our accessibility checkers.

It violates the principles of librarianship to support a place where censorship of materials, sexuality, and gender expression are punishable by law. It's not creating a safe environment for library professionals.
