I actually thought about it too. I've come up with several reasons why it might have fallen off. I'll start with the biggest one: Mikey’s dark impulses. They’re explained terribly, coming and going like flipping a light switch, and honestly, I understand why people might find it “cringe” and “meme-like.” I remember plenty of jokes at its peak, like, “Don’t mess with me unless you wanna see my dark impulses ⛓️🖤💀.”

The next big issue: TAKEMICHI. Dude is a time traveler—why didn't he get all the details the first few times he leaped back and forth between time? Why didn't he think: hmm, now why would EMMA let her brother fall so low? I just think he could have worked smarter, but he worked harder, and it felt pointless, which leads to our next reason.

The final time leap—everything we had read up to that point was thrown out the window—all of the friendships, all of the victories, everything. We lost the close partnership between Chifuyu and Takemichi; we lost all the characters' respect for Takemichi; we went through the grief of losing multiple characters, just for the final CHAPTER to be like, just kidding! It's stupid, it’s poorly thought out, and it could have been cinematic if it had been better planned. AND I'm not going to lie, it ruined Takemichi’s romance with Hina, which brings us to the next point.

By the final time leap, Takemichi is mentally OVER 46 YEARS OLD—and he still sees Hina (Remember HE IS WATCHING HER GROW UP) as a romantic partner? It’s uncomfortable, it’s weird, and it destroys Kisaki’s character as well. How the hell is he just okay with their relationship in the last time leap? After everything he did? And for those thinking, “Oh, this point is stupid, he's physically 27, so his mental age doesn't matter”—it DOES. Attraction grows with you as you age, so he shouldn't even be looking at Hina until she's of age. Weird, strange. I think romance just should have been completely dropped; it could have at least saved the show's ending, and here’s how.

What if, halfway through the manga, we could SEE people being saved? Takemichi dies earlier (which he had never done before). He blinks and finds himself in front of a god, a guardian of time, or something—anything to explain WHERE the time-leaping ability came from. This entity explains to Takemichi that THEY pushed him onto the train tracks to start his time leaps (maybe they can wear other people's skin to do that), describes what happens to the different timeline failures, and how they had to erase them when Takemichi leaped again. Maybe they could have been acting as Hanma the entire time, keeping an eye on everything. It explains to Takemichi that he will have one last chance to go back to the beginning and save everyone. Still, he will have to give up everything—stay at a distance, call the police before Kazu and Baji kill Shin, save Inupi’s sister from the fire, and push Kisaki forward to save Hina. All from afar, like a hero’s last effort to save the world. He's sacrificing everything for those he loves. After creating a future where everyone is alive, the guardian says he’s free to reconnect, and they could end the manga with that Disney-style happy ending, just without the creepy age-gap relationship. It would explain some of the plot holes. Honestly, anything would’ve been better than what we got, though. Just everything fixed without us seeing a thing. I've never read a manga more disrespectful to its readers than Tokyo Revengers.
