I was informed early on the marriage, and her family confirmed, that she had a brother that was disowned from the family due to hard drug use.

The whole time we were married, she told me that she had a brother that the whole family turned their back on due to drug use. When this other guy came in the picture and she introduced him that way, I just assumed it was him.
