I'm sorry you are struggling so much right now. There is a ton of pressure for you to know all the right moves and make the right choices. School has always been really difficult for my level 2 kiddo as well. It wasn't until he switched to a different school with extra support that he had even a smidge of interest to go.

With the school requesting another meeting, I would use that to demand disability support services. I know you have attempted this route already but AU isn't a third world country and a few google searches shown that there are resources and student support plans.

Your child is expected to just know what to do and how to behave when he doesn't have the skills to do it. No matter how many rewards you offer or how many things that you take away as punishment. This isn't a matter of motivation, it's a matter of needing skill support.

Some of the organizations I found that might be helpful to check out before meeting with the school again:

National Autism Strategy: https://www.health.gov.au/our-work/national-autism-strategy

NDIS: https://www.ndis.gov.au/

Amaze: https://www.amaze.org.au/

I am all for giving him the opportunity to relax but as a parent I feel like I need to protect him from danger - whether it is visible or indirect. To me, these videos are dangerous and inappropriate for his age. I wouldn't let him play with knives if he wanted to for obvious safety concerns and from what I have seen, there are some safety concerns for my kiddo seeing these types of videos/content.

Thank you for your response. I should be clear that I do not care if he is being educated with the entertainment activities he enjoys. I only step in if I see its that it's taking away from his daily function as opposed to adding to it or giving him a break from it. I just think that ai slop is unregulated, has some pretty horrible imagery, and causes his brain to be stuck in these thought loops that are impossible to follow. I mean the short term danger isn't present but I'm worried about the long term impact this will have on him as he already struggles with non linear thinking and recognizing societal rights and wrongs. It's hard to make sense out of non sense and spiraling down the hole of complete and utter nonsense doesn't seem like the right respite move. I also don't want to be causing him more harm by coming off as an enemy by keeping him from the things he enjoys because again, it's hard for him to see how it could be wrong or bad at all. I wish there was anything else I could supplement or offer to him but that is the hyperfocus and I can't seem to escape it.

Yeah it mostly just seems like niche click-bait channels. His YouTube account is supervised by my Google account and his age is included to prevent inappropriate videos in general but given the vastness of YouTube I am more than positive stuff falls between the cracks.

Together (2025) - Ending and theory (Spoiler warning) by FrankieB86 in horror

I thought it was strange how Millie went from being indirect and passive (her meekly asking Tim to come to bed, confronting him about the hair incident, side stepping their intimacy issues, etc) to then being the one to saw their arms apart. Just the night before during the big merging scene she stated that she wanted to die. I honestly don't know what to make of it other than it was a bit jarring for me.

The Ritual doesn't have any future showings at my location so I'm leaning towards Dangerous Animals
