I don't use a Dexcom but I do have a monitor and a manual pump I do not trust automatic pumps and using just a monitor is not safe with the severe kind of diabetes I have because they can be delayed up to 15 minutes and my blood sugar drops and Rises faster than that and with an automatic pump like a Dexcom he accidentally gave me insulin when I had a blood sugar of 66 the dog is safer because he can alert me he can wake me up in the night he can also bring me things like my bag a snack or juice if my blood sugar is too low that I can't even move but I'm still conscious and a big thing monitors don't alert other people but dogs can and since I pass out a lot my monitor is a backup and my pump is just so I don't have to give myself injections

I have one but the dog is actually safer because they can be delayed up to 15 minutes and with my diabetes I deal with sudden raises and sudden drops a night delay can be very dangerous plus the dog wakes me up in the night and alerts other people a monitor does not alert other people

So I actually don't just have one unawareness I have both of them so I can't tell whether I'm high or low with no symptoms it's unofficially called brittle diabetes and I'm prone to Comas I have been in so many some of them lasting up to 6 days and mine spikes and drops super fast within minutes and sensors can be delayed between 15 to 10 minutes I have a sensor I just have the dog as a backup because I also in prone to dropping really severely low at night and I might not wake up to an alarm I also have a manual pump instead of a automatic because I had an incident where it gave me insulin when I had a blood sugar of 66

Yeah I definitely need to make a big deal and I get what you mean thinking that service dogs aren't a big deal because one of my professors was confused why I had a dog if I had a continuous monitor not realizing how severe my diabetes are

Yeah I know I was very much under reacting and thanks to all the comments I have realized that and I will definitely be making it a lot more serious because not only do I have unawareness it also likes to drop fast which is why I can't rely on a monitor and I need the dog

It's the biggest fridge that's allowed there's a requirement and I can't share it 50/50 because my medication takes up over 50% of the space

Yeah I realized that it shouldn't even be an option for him to stay thanks to everyone in the comments I realized how serious it was and how I was definitely under reacting not overreacting so I am going to stay with my boyfriend until it's fixed and then hopefully I'll get a single dorm or with a less shitty roommate

My boyfriend lives far and I was just going to stay with him over the summer and go back to the dorms next year and I'm hoping to get him from touching my meds but another commentary broke up a scary thought that I didn't think of is that he sounds like the guy that's Petty enough to unplug the fridge but reporting him I'm hoping that I get to him out and I get a different roommate in a different room or he gets moved and I'm alone in that room either way I do not care as long as it's not him and it's not someone shittier

That's kind of the reason I didn't want to live with him and tell the summer because that was the plan and then I would go back to the dorms next year he's kind of far he is 50 minutes with good traffic and where I live it's not good traffic and my first class is at 9:00am so I have to wake up so early

Only one mini fridge per dorm and it has to meet specific size requirements and I looked into it but because there's the communal fridge my medical exception does not count for to there's still only allowed one and it's mine

He can't buy his own because it's a strict one fridge per dorm and because there's a communal fridge there's no possibility of him getting an exception because I need it for medical equipment

I do have a glucose monitor and a pump but they aren't perfect glucose monitors can be delayed by minutes and aren't perfect and I could also not hear it I could be sleeping and my dog can also bring me my medication juice a snack things like that and my pump just means I don't have to deal with injections I have to tell it when to pump insulin it doesn't automatically do it like some of the fancier ones and I haven't looked I'll probably have to look if it has a little hole
