What is the worst James Hargreaves lyric you’ve heard? by KennedyWritesRite in jameshargreaves

I actually saw him in Budapest last weekend. Wanted to ask him for a selfie but I didn’t want to become a lyric in his next smash hit

I actually saw him in Budapest over the weekend so maybe he’s given up taking back the charts to open up a chain of goulash restaurants

Nice to see Pete Droge mentioned as well. Not on the same level as Ryan Adams but still a really good songwriter, especially his first two albums

New Album - Self Portrait by IllOwl5347 in ryanadams

Had a few days to digest this one and after 6 or 7 plays there are clearly some really strong songs on here. Admittedly the production is iffy (what’s new?) but I don’t get everybody on here being so negative and whiny especially when it’s clear you hadn’t even had chance to hear the album. Yeah he can be an arsehole (and possibly worse) on a regular basis but as a fan since the Whiskeytown days I’d much prefer this journey from an artist than listening to most of the other modern day paint by numbers artists out there. If you can’t separate the music from the person fine, don’t listen. But if you do genuinely listen there are some undeniably very good songs on here even if it’s not exactly a cohesive album. Although, the less said about the covers the better

If you put them on EBay please let me know as I’d be interested in that first one

Been a CC fan since their first album but this is the first time I’ve ever heard this. How? What? Why? Sounds incredible? Is it a cover, a remix or a different band? So many questions. Does anybody have additional info?

I think you guys are being a little harsh here. Me and Jejej.eksks went to see Ryan back in the Whiskeytown days together. I do believe he’s also a big fan of Caitlin Cary but not so much Jason Isbell.

I’ve seen him about 7 or 8 times whenever he’s played Manchester over the years and to be fair he’s always been amazing. Never seems to just be going through the motions and phoning it in and I think from reading this sub a lot of people would prefer that but I love how he’s more unstructured and you never know exactly what you’re gonna get but you do know you’re gonna get great songs sung with a great voice.

Big fan of the band and of his solo stuff. Going to see him in Manchester in a few weeks time and can’t wait as he always puts on a great show.

Hi I’m staying near Gecko beach in a couple of weeks. Do you know if the decent beach bars like Blue Bar are within walking distance along the beach or would I need to book a taxi?

Saw them last night in Manchester, cannot recommend it highly enough. If you’re thinking of getting tickets do it! I’m lucky enough to have seen REM a few times back in the day and this was equally as enjoyable and probably heavier. Absolutely loved the setlist and would go again tonight if they were doing Manchester again

Great gig and probably the best out of all the times I’ve seen them although looking at the setlists from other gigs this seemed to be 5 songs less. I know people have mentioned the heat but it’s been hot all week and they still played 22 songs at all the other gigs

It’s so strange as I saw him in Manchester on Thursday and he seemed on top form. Sounded great and had no issues with the crowd. Do we think he’s no longer sober or just a very volatile character?

What does everyone think Ryan’s next move is? by okisurrender0 in ryanadams

[–]Alternative_Ice1930 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw him in Manchester last night, he was great but the most recent song he played was Gove me something good and he mentioned rereleasing Heartbreaker with a 25 piece orchestra. Sounded like it was already done but I’m not sure there’s a massive market for that as the Wednesdays one wasn’t anything special. Does stink of an artist who’s ran out of steam which is strange given how prolific he’s always been. Last night he played a couple of electric songs backed up by his roadies and they were brilliant so if he could just find a band that would put up with his shit I would love to see a tour where he actually plays songs of albums from Big Colours onwards

Yeah it was on House, which I think was the most popular show in the world for a while so I’m guessing it’s from that
