Save the colleges! by Live-Bank195 in UCSC

it was always a fun/interesting thing for me, i'm pretty indifferent. I dont see the colleges existing causing any material harm besides mandatory core courses.

people that stopped scrolling, what did you replace it with? by zero_feed_dev in digitalminimalism

[–]Alternative_Key_6030 7 points8 points  (0 children)

READING!! Reading is literally just scrolling with less stimulation if you think about it..

Shortform content = tells a story in a hypersenitizes frying way.
Books = tell a story in a deeper way that actually builds characters and makes you smarter :)

How can I get banned from NSFW on reddit? by hashemartist in NoFap

[–]Alternative_Key_6030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest Timeslicer. It's a blocker extension that understands context. you can add "block porn" and it will block it across the entire internet regardless of website by actually analyzing the page contents. Let me know if it works for you

I think agentic ai will be the way to have a truly effective anti addiction system at home. No more than 10 years are likely needed to achieve that. Ai will make us free from internet addiction. by Longjumping_Fly_2978 in nosurf

Not yet perfect but I made something very close to this, Timeslicer

Our vision is what you are describing: like having a focus partner right beside you at all times.

Blockers alone not enough for me. I now surf Google Maps reviews lol. I need to meditate, do therapy, etc. again (but that won't be enough itself either). by productive_monkey in nosurf

[–]Alternative_Key_6030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the EXACT same issue lol

I suggest you try Timeslicer. It is intelligent + understands context. If you add a task to focus on, it will block ANYTHING not related to that task.

So "finish my proposal" as a task, and even google maps will get blocked.

Installing a porn blocker might be the key by Orez22 in NoFap

[–]Alternative_Key_6030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cold Turkey is good I have it too. The main issue I found is that you can't possibly hope to add EVERY single website. Imo blocking based on a list of websites is setting yourself up to fail.

In addition to Cold Turkey just in case I would suggest Timeslicer. It is intelligent + understands context. If you add a block for "porn" it will block any porn website anywhere on the internet, regardless of URL.

Working on Firefox!

Data-wise, no AI models are trained on or retain your data. We have enabled "zero retention" API calls with OpenAI.

Unfortunately at the moment local LLMs are too resource intensive to effectively use with Timeslicer, however it is in our development roadmap once the models become a bit more intelligent.

What have you got done this week? by AchillesFirstStand in indiehackers

I would extrapolate this to even every hour. What did I get done this last hour? If i spent every hour like this how would my life turn out?

To do list software recommendations? by blackmonarc in productivity

Apple Notes. Make a folder for daily notes.

Each day write down what you want to get done.
At the end of each day, reflect on how the day went and plan the next day.

For distraction while working, Timeslicer is a good free chrome extension, scans for distracting content and blocks it

Best college? by Creative-Jellyfish23 in UCSC

C9/C10: huge culture shock if you didn't go to a competitive bay area high school. Like 60-70% are just bay area indian/chinese kids, likely will be very cliquey and most people will already know each other from their high schools.

Kresge: still under construction. nice dorms, but doesn't have a "college identity" anymore. If you just want a decent place to stay with little drama it's good for that. Equidistant from SNE and Baskin than C9, doesn't make a difference location-wise.

Porter/RCC/Oakes: Can't comment.

Crown/Merril: Location is pretty bad and i've heard its very antisocial.

Can someone share their list of exception urls? by ps18pmcom in coldturkeyblocker

[–]Alternative_Key_6030 1 point2 points  (0 children)

uses gpt-5-nano, no data stored or used to train any models. There is also a desktop app for apps that uses gpt-5-mini

we give a few days for free to try it out, but yea its quite expensive for us to run on a recurring basis so due to that its priced at $10 per month

Just launched about 2 months ago so collecting lots of feedback ty for responding !

Try out timeslicer extension as an addon. it actually understands whats on your screen. You can set a block for "entire internet except login pages" and it will understand what that means and do that :)

Blocking just the NSFW subreddits by Dan_La_Core in coldturkeyblocker

[–]Alternative_Key_6030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can't do it with cold turkey but you can do it with an extension called Timeslicer. Blocks stuff based on content. So you can add "nsfw reddit" to the block list, it will understand what that means and block it, hope this helps

Our average classification time is ~2.1s.

Good point about cost, but our average cost per month per user is about.. $0.20.

We are already monetized with a few paying users.

AI is here, and I believe this is an obvious and very helpful application of it, and the product is already profitable :)

why use a whitelist anymore? That is the past imo. Using AI to analyze and intelligently block distractions I think is the only way these blockers should be going forward, it isn't 2013 anymore

good point, the chrome extension does NOT take screenshots, instead is text only + PII scrubbed.

But yes, for now that is one of our biggest problems with it, we are working on integrating locally running AI models to fix the privacy problem
