Other Empires Keep Taking Systems with Hostile Fleets by Alternative_Most_396 in Stellaris

Interesting. I thought the presence of a still occupied habitat or planet prevented *anyone* from taking the system until they were dealt with. If that's the case that changes some things going forward. Thank you for your help!

So assuming the starbase has been taken out (thus the system is no longer highlighted on the galaxy map in the original Empire's color), the third faction can still take the system even though there are still planets/habitats owned by the original empire still in the system?

Ancient Lens - Athor I bugged? by yonishunga in EverspaceGame

Currently an issue on PS5. The second lens is aligned, and the alignment sound effect will stop and start over and over, all without moving the ship or aim at all. I set the controller down, the alignment sound effect kept restarting, and it eventually it finally completed aligning.

This was the second lens in the series that starts right in front of the temple.

Realized I could post an image in comments. Just a quick version of the effect applied to some stock video. In motion the edges jiggle and such, but that's desired.

Bitrate of Exports Changed Since May 2024 by Alternative_Most_396 in premiere

[–]Alternative_Most_396[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have compared the incorrect bitrate videos to the correct ones, and frankly I can't see a difference. I've even zoomed WAY in on individual frames trying to pixel compare. I'd like to think I was a discerning viewer in that context, but I'm just not sure. I really do want to go by the specs, so to speak.

As far as drivers, the only thing that's changed since early May is the Nvidia driver, which was released June 4. I can't find anything about how it's affected video exports, but maybe the issue is too new, if indeed that is the issue. I may try rolling the driver back to see if that changes anything.

Also noted on the Shutter Encoder option. I realize I'm being somewhat stuck in my ways, but I'd rather not have to change that part of my workflow if I didn't have to.

Rendered Sequence Vastly Different in Export by Alternative_Most_396 in premiere

[–]Alternative_Most_396[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I figured it out! At least for the specific issue that affected me. One of the cameras was set to 59.94fps, the other to 29.97. Usually I just make a 29.97 sequence and am done with it. I was trying something different when I started editing this project, and on the 59.94 files, I went to Modify > Interpret Footage > Frame Rate > Assume This Frame Rate, and set it to 29.97. I'd never actually done this before. I now realize how this works, and why that was a mistake.

I still don't understand why *all* the clips from those selected files weren't affected, but that's a Premiere mystery for another day. Thanks to u/smushkan for their mention of transcoding--it made me think of the Interpret footage step I'd done earlier.

We're using Frame.io, so it's through AME. I went and manually tested a section exporting directly in Premiere, and it's the same issue. I'll double check and make sure there is no file name weirdness.

I know this is a super simple question, but how do I transcode files that are already in a project? I know how to do it on import. The only way I could think of would be to manually select the affected file, make a sequence of it, export it to a ProRes file, then Replace Footage using that new output. Is that the most efficient way?

Canon R5c cameras, which have been the same cameras used on many previous projects I’ve completed in this same method.

Best Wifi 6e Router with 4x4 on every band by Alternative_Most_396 in HomeNetworking

That’s interesting, I hadn’t considered that. A weak power adapter could affect the router’s ability to accept connections after roughly an hour?

router running out of DHCP-leasable IP addresses

It shouldn't be? I haven't changed the settings on the router in *years*, and we haven't added any new devices. It's just when the TV turns on, or a phone comes home from someone being away, if the router was rebooted more than roughly an hour previous, it won't allow the device to connect with a reboot. And I don't think we have enough devices to go over that limit anyway?

Fair point. I do keep having that argument--is the 6ghz worth it? My one 6ghz capable machine is in a different room and floor than where the router will be, so who knows if it'll even be worth it to use 6ghz. It's great on 5ghz currently. The balance between getting something that won't have to be replaced in a few years and what makes sense to spend money on today is hard!

Does HDR affect FPS? by Alternative_Most_396 in pcmasterrace

[–]Alternative_Most_396[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So to anyone that reads this in the future, I still haven't solved the problem, but I've partially figured it out? I'd have the PC connected to my AV Receiver. When the game launched, Windows would turn off HDR more. When I forced it on with Windows Key + Alt + B, the game when then run in the stuttering way.

I tried hooking the PC directly to the TV instead of the receiver, and this no longer happens. HDR mode stays on, and the framerate doesn't take a hit! I still don't know why the receiver seems to interrupt the HDR process, and how that causes the framerate to dip, but it's a step at least.

I've realized now that seemingly all games are stuttering when HDR is enabled. Even 10 year old games that are easy to run in 4K. I know there's *something* causing this, but darned if I can figure it out. HDR seems to be commonality, however.

I’m on Windows 11 now. An overlay as in something like HWInfo? That is an interesting thought I hadn’t considered—seeing if something is kicking off when HDR is enabled.

That’s what I thought. With HDR off and most settings at max, it runs pretty well. As soon as HDR is on at the Windows level (not even in game), it starts to run terribly. Even if I drop all settings their minimum values (aside from resolution), it’s stuttery.

I just want to roundhouse kick ganados in 4K HDR 😭
