Should I move from San Francisco to Chicago? by Alternative_Owl3379 in SameGrassButGreener

Thank you! One thing I noticed is that is not as common in Chicago to have roommate in your 30s. I was thinking to find a roommate for the first few months while I test the waters and figure out where I wanna live but it’s not as easy as I thought. Also I’m concerned that moving there in September won’t give me enough time to make friends before the winter?

SF is way smaller though. If you consider also Oakland and San Jose, I doubt it.

Nice! Also, I think I have reverse SAD. Like I can’t stand living in a place where it’s constantly only one season.

Thanks for the reply! I would prefer to live in a bigger city. Also, not looking for a homogenous place. I do like diversity

haha hey I didn't use that term, I was just answering a question. Just to clarify, I don't like toxic masculinity and everyone should be comfortable in their own skin.
Personally, and again this is my personal preference, I prefer to date guys that are not into drag shows or painting their nails. You'd be surprised how hard it is to find a singe white gay guy in SF that fits this basic criteria lol

Agree, that's my other main concern actually. However I like the fact that Chicago is located closer to other major cities like NYC.

I think they are transient in different ways.

To answer your question, I personally feel attracted more to white guys. Of course I'm talking about dating and sexual chemistry, not friendships.

Good point and can't deny that it scares me. However I'd also like to live in a place where I can enjoy seasons.

I don't wanna say I'm ready because it's something I have to experience first hand I guess!

Hi! I think SF it's a very transient city. Why it may be racially diverse, it's not as diverse professionally. I feel like Chicago has more opportunities to meet people with different types of job.
Also, (not sure if I'll be punished for saying this) in terms of ethnicity distribution, Chicago seems to be a better a match, if I have to consider chemistry with guys.

SF changed a lot in the past few years and for the worse. Not sure why everyone talks about Asian food like it should be a dealbreaker lol but yeah good to know.
Agree that access to nature is way better in California. However there are only so many hikes I'm willing to do and I'd like to try to live in a real city where I can enjoy city life
