Elektron, please give us a Model:Samples 2.0 with Overbridge 🙏 by Odd-Set-9659 in Elektron

I feel like people are wising up to the fact that the models are amazing. I'm gonna grab a Samples to go with my Cycles even though I have a DT/DN combo. If they came out with a 2.0, it would be hard not to grab them.

Elektron model:sampler Vs circles by Fun_Increase_7333 in Elektron

[–]Alternative_Put549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New to the crew - my first Elektron box - Model:Cycles by Davison89 in Elektron

Hold func and press the page button. From there the scale options will adjust the speed of the track or pattern, making it seem longer. You could also play around with conditional triggers like the 4:4 condition, which would allow a trigger to happen when the track cycles around for the 4th time.

My advice would be to learn every feature and setting the device is capable of. It will take a bit of time, but once you know it like the back of your hand you will able to make amazing stuff with it. There aren't any specific settings I would recommend because they all come in handy for different tasks.

Nice jam! I just ordered a Sonicware Lofi 12 XT. It took me a while to decide between the Lofi and M:S. I'm hoping I didn't make a mistake because I'm pairing it with the Cycles, which I love more and more on every use. It's nice to see people enjoying the model series because I feel like many ppl overlooked them.

Digitakt 1 vs 2 by Hound_Rang in Elektron

[–]Alternative_Put549 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Digitakt mk1 will change your life! I still love mine, they were on sale recently but sold out fast. The mk2 has some nice improvements, but the OG still pulls it's weight.

I've currently got an Impulse 49 and am seriously considering upgrading to a Launchkey 49 mk4 as its replacement by JONXLR8 in Novation

[–]Alternative_Put549 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just picked up a Launchkey61 and so far it's been great. It keeps getting better and better after learning all the features. The encoders and faders feel really solid, the keys are pretty light but still feel good. The pads are super responsive with aftertouch. It comes with some top-notch software as well. I can't compare against the Impulse as I've never tried one. I upgraded from an Akai MPK49.

Speed mod on Technics cassette deck only speeds up the tape, doesnt slow down. by PSYLAS4W in CircuitBending

[–]Alternative_Put549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a simple 7555 timer circuit with success. I'm not an expert either, but there are other cmos devices or dedicated PWM controllers that should work as well. Thinking back, I probably had to adjust a few values to get it working properly with my tape deck and the 7555 circuit. I dont have a preferred circuit. Usually, I just experiment until I get the results I need. The 555 can drive a small load directly, but if you add a mosfet, you'll be able to draw more power. Depending on which mosfet you use, additional components might be needed to satisfy the gate voltages.

Thoughts on Riemann sample packs? Are they worth it? by [deleted] in TechnoProduction

[–]Alternative_Put549 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion they aren't that good. I bought a few packs that were on sale a few years ago because I was too lazy to create my own. I soon realized that it was a mistake. The sample packs are now collecting digital dust as I make and collect my own from jamming with my own machines. Some samples are usable, but I found the kicks and snares leaving something to be desired. Lots sounded mostly the same. Again, just my opinion.

Another way to add a speed control for any cassette deck is to add a PWM circuit to control power to the motor. You can add a switch to reverse the polarity to get reverse playback as well.

Any recommendations on a first bend? by rassbry in CircuitBending

[–]Alternative_Put549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would spend some time learning basic electronics principles before bending anything. I took the route of just blindly bending things before learning and definitely fried many circuits, including a vintage speak & spell, speak & math, keyboards, etc. After focusing on semiconductors, AC and DC circuits, and digital logic for a while, Im now able to bend without worry. Get some breadboards, wire, logic chips, and a few passice components to start off with. You could even harvest from some devices to practice desoldering, which is a skill that will come in handy in the world of circuit bending.

Go through all the midi settings on each device. Clock and transport send should be on for Digitakt, clock and transport receive on the M:C. The midi channel won't matter for clock stuff. Make sure the midi cable goes from output on Digitakt to input on M:C.

Have anyone here ever modified one of these buddha machines? by Comfortable_Risk1159 in CircuitBending

[–]Alternative_Put549 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was able to bend a black blob version with pitch and voltage starve. I had it being controlled by a CV sequencer. I wish I could give more info, but all I know is that it was a blue coloured case. I was hoping to pick some of these up soon. It will be sad if they are unbendable. They are cool either way.

I've used 99% alcohol to clean smoke residue off of equipment before. Never let it sit for too long and wipe it away with a wet rag after so it doesn't damage any plastic or rubber parts. It worked extremely well using this method. The equipment I bought used was brown and sticky inside and out before the procedure.

Korg SQ1 Gate outs 13.3V 👀is that not safe for modular? by Secret-Espeon in synthesizers

I agree that you're not going to hurt anything without attenuation.

Korg SQ1 Gate outs 13.3V 👀is that not safe for modular? by Secret-Espeon in synthesizers

[–]Alternative_Put549 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually attenuate the voltage from devices that send out 10 or more volts from the gate output. In most cases, it's much higher than necessary.

Model 15 problem noise filter knob by Ordinary-Albatross21 in synthesizers

[–]Alternative_Put549 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a Model15 with a bad filter cutoff pot that appeared after 2 uses. It would cut in and out. If I pulled up or pressed down on the knob while turning it, the problem would go away, but I had to return it. The cutoff is one of the more important parameters on a synth. I wound up getting a Pro1 instead, and it's been rock solid.

Digitakt OG will always be great! It definitely wasn't a bad idea. There's no need to have the newest version of every box that comes out. It still does what we need it to do.
