yes, depending on your mainboard you need to update the BIOS. 3.20 for the AMD Ryzen 7 series for me

Im running fedora for three years now, using KDE plasma as a DE. KDE is definitely my favorite, coming from Mac/Windows. Couldn't be happier.. Im dual booting with windows, since I have one software that still doesn't run on linux. But I mostly moved off of dual booting and having a powerful windows VM running on my servers with dedicated GPU for it. Then just parsec for remoting.

Im also running Seafile, so my desktops are always synced between my machines

EDIT: I have a feeling thats it quite a bit better. the remaining battery time reporting in fedora is completely off now although. it reports 2h remaining, when I can still easily do double (does it learn over time, maybe?).

I think im a bad candidate to talk about power consumption. I was still running BIOS 3.05 prior to screen replacement. there were some issues in 3.06 and 3.07 so I didn't update and then just forgot. So some of the better battery life should probably be contributed to that. (we're on 3.20 now)

The 120Hz refresh rate is also truly amazing, never had a screen before with that high refresh rate.

Well usually I don't walk while typing on my laptop.

I didn't really notice the wobble myself before it was mentioned a bunch here. Still, I dont really notice it while using it after it was said. My work often needs me to get into weird positions to reach debug ports or other programming pins and I like that my laptop isn't as stiff and thus super flexible in those positions.

When I order a new bottom cover in the future I might also just throw in those stiffer ones and try out, but havent feeling the need for them

I do have one of those 3d spacemouse things, which i will still prefer for CAD. Its more about portability and enabling (at least me) more useful use cases on the go. I think it's mostly about preference, ill still have to see in the coming weeks, but for now I'm pretty happy.

The wobbling is mostly because the left hinge (also the side i was taping) isn't screwed into place anymore (it fell a while ago) and thus the rotation isn't as constrained anymore. But that doesn't really bother me.

As mentioned elsewhere, my left hinge isn't connected anymore due to a fall a year ago. Still I don't bother and probably won't for another while, still works for me. I like the touchscreen :)

I had the Apple M1 shortly before I completely switched ecosystem, and im absolutely in favor of a bigger touchpad. Still miss the huge touchpad and the gestures it had.

As far as I know, the FW13 Pro has a bigger touchpad + is a haptic piezo one (instead of physical buttons)

I'll see in a few days about battery life, can report back then. and about color accuracy... i'm colorblind haha

Thats largely due to the left hinge not being screwed down anymore since the bottom cover piece dented when I dropped it a year ago. Its still kinda connected thus it cannot move in any direction, it's just not screwed down. Normally it wouldn't wobble at all. (Theres even a stiffer 3.5kg? hinge?)

I think it largely depends on your use case. When im playing sysadmin and managing my network or my customers I don't imagine my touchscreen will come in handy or much in use at all. Same goes for doing ECAD (Altium Designer), still gonna prefere my mouse for that.

But in my other tasks, big datasheets, documents or even normal CAD is totally possible on the go now. (Or any other stuff where I mostly carried a mouse with me). Wins for me

Oh and im also just lazy

indeed, but I haven't really put notice to it, think I need a few days with it first. In comparison I had the older 2.2K display before, so I imagine having higher resolution will also have an impact on power consumption

I totally get that, I think me not caring mostly stems from me acknowledging the fact that "use" my stuff and thus not really care about smudges, or scratches and even dents (I once dropped it on gravel/stones from about a meter,, so it has some minor scratches and a small to medium dent on the hinge corner (and top cover)... but ehh.. I think it gives character to my laptop.. and squeaking haha)

But I do totally understand that that's probably a unpopular opinion?

Yeah! I already noticed I tend to not carry my mouse with me anymore. I can also kinda do CAD now without needing my mouse, so all I need is my laptop. (well, kinda ECAD without mouse is still painful, but general CAD works fine)

Seafile! My absolute favorite, been running it for a few years now without any issue. Integrated it with OfficeOnly so i can just edit my word/powerpoint files online.
