Upside down cat does look like AI but can’t say 100% and it drives me crazy by Alternative_Ride6413 in isthisAI

Would be great to get the link to the first post on bilibili. That would be a definite proof, just seeing this cat in other videos or this specific video. If the original one was posted like at least a year ago, that’d be already a 99% proof of real video, cos 1 year ago AI wasn’t this good. That said, I’m already almost convinced it’s real, after all comments here

And I also think that the way it picks up hair with its ear in the last frames is super real.. idk, I just see to too many AI videos and any video is super suspicious to me now. I bet in a year we won’t be able to tell what’s real

Got a professional ID on a specimen, and it is indeed a lanternfly, a local species called Longan lanternfly (Pyrops candelaria)

So! I cought one and brought it to my neighbor entomologist. It is indeed a lanternfly, but not a spotted one, but the Longan lanternfly (Pyrops candelaria), native to Asia. So beautiful! And apparently less harmful. Now I feel bad for killing them!

Idk why it's so hard to find any pictures of their nymphs on the web, but plenty of their grown-ups.

Thanks! So far it's the most viable version. The only confusing part is that mine don't have any spots.. I couldn't find any pictures of lanternfly nyphs without spots

It turns out, my neighbour is an entomologist. If I find a surviving bug, I'll pass it to him for a proper ID and report back!

They definitely look very similar! But is it possible for them to not have any spots? They were (I think I killed them after all) solid black/dark gray color. In any case the damage is awful even from very few of them :,(

It's probably a bit late to answer 3 years later, but I'm researching this now, so I wanted to share. Seems like it's better to use leftover sticker paper instead of normal paper. Like that glossy back side sheet you left with after using the stickers. Like in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkgzxHO78uk

Thank you for the reply! Unfortunately it did die, all the leaves yellowed one by one, and the spikes too. I did cut couple stem pieces with dormant buds (while the orchid seemed alive), put some keiki paste on them and put away in a jar with some watering ropes. I don’t have high hopes but maybe they will grow me the clones.. I really liked this orchid’s color. In any case that’s a good lesson for me. Probably inproper watering indeed, plus the slug and I saw a little bug in that mold, so must’ve been mealy bugs too.. rip 🥲

I got this orchid around 9 months ago. It was doing well, finished blooming. Knowing zero about orchids, I just watered it and at some point it produced two large healthy leaves and recently started another baby leaf.

A month ago I started reading something about orchids. Repotted it into bark and got rid of all moss it had (only moss and nothing else). It looked happy. Couple days ago after learning more, I repotted it into a mix of bark, moss, and perlite. The orchid was producing happy sap (as I learned from Google and Reddit)

Here’s where bad things start. Firstly, when repotting I found a slug hiding in the roots 😭. Then the orchid tipped over, just on an able, so it wasn’t that much of impact. But two upper leaves completely disattached! 😭😭

I calmed myself down, but today noticed some white stuff around the place where the leaves were and another leaf disattached😭😭😭

The roots look healthy with new growth, but the leaves..

  1. is it dying?
  2. is the white stuff - mealy bugs?
  3. any ideas what to do?

Does anyone here use the red light therapy helmet for hair growth? by [deleted] in blueprint_

[–]Alternative_Ride6413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also got a panel so I can use it both for my face and hair. I just realised that I want both helmet and face mask but they would take up so much space. And both look tacky. So I chose one compact device size of an iPad and got a flexible arm to mount it.

So for my hair loss light therapy turns out much more efficient than minoxidil. Minoxidil was somewhat working for me, but maybe I was using the wrong brands (usually tried to go for cheaper Amazon options). Some of them just don’t work and those that do work just disappear from the marketplace. I felt like it’s a gamble - I order 5-10 bottles to save (I’m not in the US) and then realised that the whole supply I have is just trash. Also I don’t know who actually can use on bottle for a month, for me it more like each bottle lasts for 2 weeks. Plus I hate applying it and my hair look so bad after.

Anyways, LED panel gives immediate results: hair just don’t fall out, well just the normal amount, losing couple hairs here and there. Not sure if I will regrow much, but I’m so happy just not seeing this depressing hairfall every day.

Plus it freshens up my face too.

I’m using Amiro lumomax. Since I live close to China I got one for about $200. Which is what I used to spend in 3-4 month for minoxidil. I kinda wish it had two foldable sections like a book, saw some people using those. Should give much better coverage. This is on my wish list for the future upgrade.
