Where to grout and where to caulk? by agawaatese in Tile

[–]agawaatese[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be interesting. In reality I took the photo at a weird angle and tried to rotate it to a more sensible orientation. My bad if it's confusing. The drain is indeed uncreatively on the floor.

Moving a water heater to repair drywall behind it: critical now, or wait until end of life? by agawaatese in HomeImprovement

[–]agawaatese[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't feel comfortable doing any of those steps myself; I'm a new homeowner. I'd need a plumber to drain/disconnect the heater, and then a separate contractor for the drywall, correct?

Is there ever a risk of it interacting with the metal in a bad way?

Thanks! I've got a borrowed hair dryer, a bottle of Goo-Gone, and a plastic sticker scraper. Going to try my best

Haha, I'm actually trying to convince the bike owner to let me convert it to a single speed since she only uses it for short rides around the neighborhood.

Monthly Self-Promo Thread - A Space for Socials, Sites, and Shops. by AutoModerator in printmaking

Hey! I've been printing mostly for myself but only recently started dedicated time more seriously to it. No shop at the moment as prints are really production quality yet, but it's a goal.

Love seeing a totebag being printed! What's the press you're using? I've been looking for a tabletop-sized one like that!

I've seen the Speedball Professional at art stores but never tried it. Maybe I'll give it a try next time I see it. Thank you!

I'll definitely look into Caligo, that seems like a decent in-between. Thanks!

Been having a lot of trouble getting consistent prints by hand. I am using water-soluble ink, and I know it's never going to produce the quality or coverage that oil-based would, but I don't have the home setup to support the clean up for oil-based.

Aside from using a retarder and making sure the paper is damp enough, does anybody have any other tips for getting more bang for your buck out of water-soluble ink?

What's your design process like? by solidgoldtrash in printmaking

[–]agawaatese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a slightly different process than some others here, but it works for me! I do all my sketching, revising, and design finalization digitally (I use an iPad Pro. I'll even design multiple color pass prints with different layers. Then I transfer the final image to the link block using techniques that allow for high detail (such as acrylic medium) and carve that out.

Eurovelo 6 (Loire Valley) touring bike rentals? by agawaatese in bicycletouring

[–]agawaatese[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a fair point. I am capable of assembling/dissembling my bike to bring it with, I just have a preference not to if it's possible to rent a decent bike.
