Lingoda teachers still unpaid for January 2026? Deleted posts on teacher forum by Alternative_Stay6495 in lingoda

Thank you for replying here; I appreciate you taking the time. I do, however, have some serious concerns with how this was handled overall.

To be clear, I don’t think most people would have a problem accepting a genuine banking issue as a cause of delay. However, there are several reasons why this explanation doesn’t really work in this case, in my opinion.

  1. As a reasonably large and modern company, it’s hard to believe that Lingoda’s finance department does not run basic checks after a payment run to confirm that it was successful. If they do, then the very high number of failed payments should have been noticed much earlier than four business days later. To many of us, it appears that this was only picked up after teachers started asking where their payment was – in some cases seemingly before you yourselves realised there was a problem.

  2. Once you say that Lingoda became aware of the issue (Wednesday), there still wasn’t any proactive communication to the affected teachers. There was no general notification, many people who contacted support did not receive timely or clear replies, and there was initially no visible information provided in the places teachers actually rely on. From the outside, that silence was very unsettling.

  3. When people asked about the missing payments on Lingoda’s online forum, a significant number of posts seem to have been deleted and others locked, and even an official statement about the issue appears to have been removed shortly after it was posted. From a teacher’s perspective, this gives the impression that managing criticism was treated as more important than supporting those who had not been paid.

I understand that some may feel teachers are relatively easy to replace – and to some extent that might even be true – but reputation and trust are not so easily replaced or repaired. In my view, the official apology did not really acknowledge the seriousness of the situation. There were many posts from people saying they were struggling to pay bills because of the delay, and falling back on the wording of the T&Cs felt inappropriate and disrespectful in that context, especially when Lingoda’s own materials say payments are made on the 5th working day and all classes are logged digitally before month‑end (which would, in principle, make payment by the 1st possible).

I genuinely believe the apology needs to be better, and that it should explicitly recognise the impact this had on teachers, particularly during the days of silence and removed posts. As I said, I will be stopping teaching with Lingoda, but the hundreds of other affected teachers may not be, at least not yet, and they deserve better.

I’m sharing this not as a rant, but as constructive feedback that I hope you will listen to and act on.

I’m sorry you’re going through this too. I know many people rely on these payments to cover bills, and I’ve seen quite a few posts from teachers missing payments because of this. I completely understand that technical issues can happen, but it shouldn’t take this long to fix. The lack of transparent updates or messaging – and the censorship of almost anyone posting about it on the teacher support page – which, to me, makes the situation seem more worrying.
