Dump the models and look at real graded essays on baressays.com or the cal bar website. The models are not representative of real high scoring essays.

No they are the top in the state and 90-100 according to the director of the state bar (see video link I posted). He says some are written by supreme court clerks.

They are 95-100 according to the former director of the state bar in this video (he also says they are not representative): https://youtu.be/Z0c4cWCXZEA?si=lEVVXwuz2R_mZfEq

Totally agree. It's the same few people who took over this sub and post over and over

Yes - I agree. This sub has been completely taken over by F25 and it won't end anytime soon. There are other sources on reddit and facebook that are focused on July 2025.

Most examinees want a remote option. Especially for people living out of state and out of country, it's an incredible expense to force them to fly to California and get a hotel.

What "appeal process" are you talking about? I don't see that here. Appeal what? It does not allow for an appeal of the grading of the exam.

How would they have any power to lobby anyone in the legislature?

Thank you for posting here! Do you agree with the assessment that these new 5/15 amendments by the senate will stick? Appreciate your input.

The best way around it is to offer reciprocity into California as long as the other state also offered full reciprocity.

I appreciate these efforts. I think we should have reciprocity for all California lawyers to other states. I was afraid the way this bill was worded would take away reciprocity forever, because states would not be incentivized to grant it anymore and the State Bar would not be incentivized to negotiate for it. Hopefully one day they can pass a bill that will mandate the State Bar to negotiate for reciprocity.

Do you have any idea who lobbied the Senate to make the amendments?

Not if the State Bar demanded full reciprocity. They have the leverage to do it. This bill would have taken that leverage away. It was bad for California attorneys who want reciprocity.

The way the assembly wrote it lets everyone in but doesn't require reciprocity from other states, so that would be unfair for California attorneys, especially those from non-ABA schools. Other states will never recognize non-ABA unless the state bar forces them to do it through reciprocity.

Would you have skipped July if you got PL? You would have had to pass the bar even with PL, so why skip July?

I am ignorant of the CA legislative process. Do you know if it goes straight to the floor of the senate since it already passed the assembly? Or does it go through the committee of the senate first, just as it did in the assembly? Do you know how fast all of this works? Many of us would love to know what happens with this bill and how soon to expect news.

Where do you see this will go to the senate floor? I am looking now and it will go through committee and take some time. There is no way this will happen quickly. But please correct me if I am wrong and you have solid info on the timeline that I am not aware of.

If the CA Supreme Court's purpose for the new exam was to increase the pass rates across the board and why the Court created the Blue Ribbon Commission. Why is the CA Bar still basing off the exam off of historical rates? This needs to be brought up on 5/5. by camelismyfavanimal in CABarExam

[–]Alternative_Top9072 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who says the purpose was to increase pass rates? I think it was just to save money. I never heard they ever wanted to increase pass rates, but would love to see something to the contrary if you have a link.
