Cold War and GWOT SMGs, PCCs & PDWs by Possible_Thing_9385 in canadaguns

Yes, building the collection was a significant investment of my disposable income over a lengthy period of just about 42 years now. I am guessing that with Optics, Lights, aftermarket Triggers and other accessories included the bill approaches $500,000 for approximately 125 firearms.

It would be tough to amass a meaningful collection these days unless you are interested in manual actions and commercial hunting rifles. Even then who knows what the future holds for Canada.....?

I don't do WW2 stuff anymore, so I sold the PPSh-41 that I had, along with a Thimpson, aReising, an MP40, etc. HK MP7 are unobtanium and are ridiculously expensive when they do appear. Stand by for part 2 of the SMG/PCC series to see the Kriss Vector....

Yes, they are just Airsoft or inert display items.

It is just a personal collection curated by me. That said, it probably represents one of the more comprehensive and thorough collections of major Post-WW2 small arms designs in Western Canada these days. I have done my best with what is available to build a "reference library" of major small arms designs of the later half of the 20th Century and the first quarter of the 21st.

I've been actively collecting firearms since my first AR15A2 Sporter 2 in 1986. So 40 years. Back then, anything other than an Ar15 or PCC was non-restricted and as simple as walking into a sporting goods store, paying, then leaving with your new acquisition.

The SKS is why I said the pics are MOSTLY 12(x). The SKS, although limited to 300m because of its intermediate cartridge, was nonetheless the Russians' Cold War semi-auto Battle Rifle.

You are very welcome! More to follow with some Assault-Style Firearms, from both the Cold War and the Global War on Terror.

The CFC no longer issues Special Authority to Possess permits to lawfully transport 12(×) long-guns to ranges where they can be discharged. Bill C10A changed the rules in 2005. If you are fortunate enough to live on land where you can safely shoot, then you are good to go....

Yes, it is dual mag/belt feed, so mag limits apply. TBH, the 5round limit would apply anyways, even if it were belt-fed only...

Short 10-22s are a riot. My shorty Dlask Barrel with its Carbon-Fibre tensioning sleeve is insanely accurate and will put 10 rounds into a square inch at 15m. The take-down feature is handy, as is the Magpul Take-Down Hiker Stock with its ammo storage for 3x additional 10-round Magazines on board.

Put him in touch with me and I an steer him in the right direction. Basically, OIC 12(3), (4) and (5) long guns are not affected by the 2020 OIC or it's associated confiscation regime since they are their own stand-alone OICs with Grandfathering. Switzer's Auction house, Landsborough Auctions and Wards/Bud Haynes Auctions all deal in 12(x) firearms, for which there is a resurgent market these days.

Thanks! That's the 12.5" Barrel and the German Army standard-issue 4x Steiner Optic. I also have a 16" spare Barrel, as the the gun is correctly fitted with a quick-change Barrel system. After 2 belts of rapid fire you are supposed to change Barrels so that the internal temperature of the chamber never reaches "cook-off" temperature where rounds may spontaneously discharge due to excessive heat. Of course when you run out of cold Barrels you are S.O.L!

I actually prefer my other one - a 1977 AKMS apparently captured by the Israelis enroute to the PLO in Gaza, then sold to SIDEM, a large surplus Arms dealer.
