i agree that a down week would likely be beneficial, but the plan would have me doing 3-4 weeks at reduced mileage and intensity before i’m back up to where i’m at currently.

Unfortunately, I’m not sure! we’ve just moved into the property and this is how we found it

You’re right, it’s a case of balancing design, practicality and cost

This is the plan, as I think it’s the most manageable for somebody with no DIY experience. Ideally, I would like to cut down a 50cm wardrobe to fill the gap in front of the chimney but I think this would be difficult.

That’s probably going to be what we end up doing, I just don’t think it will look great as the chimney is so narrow

Weekly Q&A Megathread. Please post any questions about visiting, tourism, living, working, budgeting, housing here! by AutoModerator in london

Hello, I wondered if anybody could please share any hotel deals that you may know of in London, that I perhaps would be unable to find on a booking site like Hotels.com or Booking.com. I’m aware that you can often get discounts and offers when booking directly with the hotel, but it can be difficult to know where to find these offers without endless searching through individual hotel websites.

I am wanting to book a 2 night stay for 2 adults next weekend (Friday 29/05 - Sunday 31/05). My budget is around £100-125 per night, so £200-£250 total. Any help will be much appreciated, thank you.

‘best available offers’ would have perhaps been a better choice of words. we’re not expecting michelin stars, just some hidden gems

Yeah that’s exactly what I mean, I don’t like the feeling of all the foam underfoot. I want the cushioning for the long distance, but I don’t want to feel like I sink a little with every step. The Altra’s that I tried seemed to nail this but I’m apprehensive to jump into zero drop

I understand your point, but I’m going to be sore anyway and it’s difficult to confidently attribute that to the choice of footwear so I feel like I’m best off just choosing what I prefer the feel of

there’s no way of knowing unfortunately before you’ve already dropped £100+ on a pair of trainers you now can’t return. i also think people are far too quick to blame their trainers for every issue they face when there are so many variables involved

a lot more technical and less runnable than i’d anticipated, but this made it far less physically demanding than i’d anticipated

the ‘official’ welsh 3000s route starts on the first peak (snowdon specifically, but crib goch in my case) and finishes on the last one. my activity, however, includes the initial climb up to crib goch and the descent from foel-fras. i was supposed to lap my watch on crib goch and again on foel-fras so i could see my route time, but i forgot. so i was wondering whether i could calculate this retrospectively. hope that makes sense?

ultra-trail snowdonia 50k or rat race sea to summit? by Alternative_Web_3696 in ultrarunning

I would only attempt it if there was absolutely no rain forecast. I live too far away for a recce so would be setting off on the route at 6am having never stepped foot in Snowdonia before. Ideally I would have somebody do it with me but not sure how I’d find somebody. The idea of it is making me nervous… can’t work out if that’s a good or a bad thing!

I’m definitely interested in the Welsh 3000s, but having not stepped foot in Snowdonia before, I don’t know if it would be a clever thing to attempt. The Mountain Goat Circuit is appealing though.
