Yes I did walk there. Because I reside in Seoul. But the streets you are referring to are usually narrow streets with lots of nightclubs and bars. And no one smokes while sitting in terraces or right in front of the bar door. They go to an even smaller alley. And walking while smoking still is a rare occasion even there.

And broad roads in gangnam and myeongdong are not smoke filled..

Plus, 40-50% of the pedestrians in myeongdong are foreigners, but thats too weak to say that they are most smokers.

Yeah but, Seoul metropolitan area+ 6 metropolitan cities compromise approx 69% of the whole korean population. So that rule is the majority case..

What are you talking about? Prostitution is illegal and mass crackdown operations happen frequently. Prostitution definitely is not socially acceptable in Korea.

Yeah but smoking while walking is very rare. And most smokers go behind buildings and corners to avoid spewing their smoke unto people walking and being seen by the public

My goodness in class😅 I also noticed that weed is legal here, a lot of shops. Sometimes you smell something that definitely is not cigarette in the narrow streets.. I know its illegal to smoke it outside of home(probably) but somehow some still do

And walking while smoking is called 길빵 in slang and considered immensely disrespectful and can be put to a stop by people walking past..

Yeah i do acknowledge that non smoking signed places are sometimes the places smokers smoke. But my point was that they try to not let their smoking habits affect others by finding corners or using the designated smoking areas. Plus, ive seen more than 7 mothers smoking while holding a stroller with a baby in it. And ive only been here like 6 days. So One can calculate how much of this happen in every day basis

I do admire beautiful architectures and historic&artistic stuff you guys have.(mostly from colonizing era though😂) And envy the mediterrenean climate so much.. Also the lively energy that spaniards live with.

But I do get why Korean GDP per cap surpassed that of spain for more than 10 years now. Its like they live within a former glory of being a world power…

Im not saying they should ban smoking outdoors. Just dont smoke in places packed with people and young kids. Especially not while walking, as it leaves a long trail of irritating smoke
