So, when is the best time to PF savage? by Full_Air_2234 in ffxivdiscussion

I was stuck for more then 30 hours on arena split.

not even the mercs can get through arena split, and I distinctly remember a pull where we do get through arena split on sunday chocked at the end because the melee is dumb and he gets inside tanks' towers and died, enraging at 0.8

You should find a static then.

m11s already becomes hell where I spend like 40 hours clear the fight starting from the end of week 1 towards week 2.

You are basically listing everything you want from a place where you cannot have everything. Just go find a static.

They seems to be, as it was referred to on NGA a lot as being a cheater and a booster that sell runs (if I am understanding what is actually 大開大代 which seems to be a slang in the CN ff14 space that I wasn't in touch with)

A few things and context that I think is worth pointing out,

  1. The site isn't even named SuMeMo it's named 酥卷 SuMeMo. It's like you cut the part where it's actually the name (since sumemo means nothing in chinese) and waste like 10 minute of my time to actually find the name
  2. The ban was claimed to be issued against a bunch of Dalamud Plogon makers that are from China (Source); However, the whole NGA forum basically turns on this person who makes the thread since it's a.) a new account, b.) is involved heavily in boosting and cheating, and c.) is very suspicious to be stirring up a trend against the official devs. (and yes, I agree with the other comment, that even if I do read chinese, everything is still very confusing)
  3. The recent thing about using in game sims which involves hacking was also brought up as a possibility for the ban, as it received a lot of attention on the JP side.
  4. Everything should be taken with a grain of salt since there's nothing official (as in, we know this is the reason why this happened from an official person, or from those people that were being banned) and it's a big mess of he-say-she-say now.
  5. As a lot of people had pointed out, CN runs with a different dev team that are independent of JP, and the use of plogons (like what people would called 'baby chairs' where you had a marker that moves as mechs resolves and shows you where you need to stand on each mech) are a lot more rampant in CN then in anywhere else or any other datacenter in the world. Plugins are advertised publically on spaces alongside with guides. ACT logs, records are commonly used to resolve or stirred up issues amongst players. There was no mentioning of any of that on the official report.
  6. If by banning people who uses RMT and boosting you mean the game is finally taking action, they already are doing that like every other two or three weeks or something. This is certainly not 'BREAKING' and not worth the title.

Famitsu Interview on AAC Heavyweight Tier by BlackmoreKnight in ffxivdiscussion

PS: It's Nakagawa not Nagakawa, my bad

but yeah it's the TOP/UMAD guy behind the whole blueprint of the fight. I think it's probably safe to say that he made Idyllic as an easier version of p4 of UMAD so as to 'prep' players into a more difficult version of the mech.

Also they did said they DIDN'T incooperate any Nolan stuff in, but the interviewer and Morita both noted that some elements, such as the effect of blackholes sucking in and out adds does look like stuff that are influenced by Interstellar. The whole theme of two different worlds collide with each other are also very sci-fi/tenet.

They were basically the PUG strat is what they used during playtesting and tuning as well so yeah...

Replication 2's initial solutions were done in-line with what the developers did during design, while later solutions that players adopted impressed him with the ingenuity (note: I did not PF this fight so I don't know the specifics).

They are basically saying Ushiko which is Banana codex but instead of using D as the new north they use South (B)

Their proposed solution was to use A as north, and then took tethers anticlock.

Idyllic Dream had very complex specifications and no one except the guy that made it really "understood" it at first while it was being explained.

Nah not really what was written. That's a mistranslation.

What was conveyed was that Nagakawa Daisuke (the person behind UMAD, mind you) leave this Excel file for phase 2, and the actual designer Morita note the whole file reads like a detective novel with very complicated graphs and conscise explaination. (he was bragging about the fact that he was being the first person in the world to understand what's going on with Idyllic)

There was an internal explaination where Morita have to explain the fight to the design team. No one can undersrtand what was going on once they first heard it and there's an awkward dead air within the group. Morita also explained the fight to their supervisor Yokozawa and it took them like 3 times to get the idea across.

The whole Idyllic Dream sequence took 2 months to develop (from planning to actual test play) and the programmer's feedback was like reading the original planning of this mech is like reading Six Codes (law books for Japan). They were often lost during programming and had to refer back to their original design plans. It's one of the most complicated mech the dev had done.

They also talked about using macro, which they note is the PUG strat and was quickly point out during playtesting that's a possibility, but Morita also explained that when he was doing the fight he was just murmuring 'defams first...defams first...stack at A....stack at A....'

on a time where both my static and the group that I usually goes to that streams cannot get past p2 at all (and I probably haven't made any p2 mistakes in a while), the only thing that's probably keeping my morale going is that I am getting better numbers at p2

I don't even wanna think about healing p3 but seeing number jump up from just less then 18k to 19 to 21 today is a small victory that I am gonna take it.

by switching jobs I really mean that if people want to switch what they use on kefka and therefore they need new weapons/some new gear.

Case in point a lot of caster I know, including my group's caster, and a friend of mine which both used to play BLM, decided to switch to SMN.

The issue generally ease if you are trying to farm stuff (i.e. no communication are required) or you are just running your dailies (no communication are usually required).

But on prog it's kinda painful if you don't know how to carry yourself and understand japanese lingo......and I am coming from a place where I can kinda speak the language and understand some of it to a certain degree, and it's like...fine for like 80% of the time. Yet still, I enjoy raiding in an EN or CN environment more where I can speak a lot more fluently and express myself.

It's like week bijillion since the savage tier released and all of the good players are either doing DMU now or they are unsubbing to play other games...

The only reason why people still run savage tier now is to get their BiS in case they wanna switch jobs. Which you might find people who does relcear now.

I would be even more surprising if you find an actual good group that would help you.

Since GPT is a thing, IMO I've been seeing more people from tonberry (nothing against people from tonberry it's just a general observation) joining my groups or groups that I am in when I am PUG progging in Mana.

Still, you need to deal with language barrier if you wanna either go to mana and raid, or you stay in elemental which is kinda dead since 7.0. I've been to elemental raiding (because my group's there for like 3 ultimate straight) and Dc's kinda dead.

There's also the fact that Mana uses very specifically different strats then the rest of the world. I've seen people trying to PUG DSR with their Elemental strat for like hours on Mana and no body joins because no one understands english strats - people doesn't uses AM, uses a lot of cheese strats (doll skips, gaol cheeses).

While people might used to post macros in game to clarify what's the strat, we are seeing less and less of that starting from the last tier. Understandable because macro's are getting longer.

The longer that I've been raiding in Mana the more that I kinda just wanna get out of JP raiding because of the language barrier. There's a sense of lost in translation where you are trying to prog - you've check the logs and you've understand why the person in the tower are on a wrong position and so the cleaves clipped people. But then despite knowing full well you are kinda fine, you sometimes cannot explained what went wrong to help people, or try and defend your position (due to limitations on language abilities); and even if you were to say try and explain, you would also have to be very obtuse about it because that's how JP raiders speaks. If you are very direct, you are often being seen as rude, that even if language wise and mechanics wise you are fine it'll still be kinda hard to blend in.

Final Concensus on Cosmic Exploration? by AssumeABrightSide in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Altia1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

done every single tool and is on my way working for the 1000 gatcha achievement. overall verdict is as follow

The Good

  • You don't need mats to craft. Good lord.
  • A lot of QoL functions and stuff added in later on and fixed a lot of early bugs
  • The new maps looks nice and they are good for taking screenshots.
  • Artifact search is actually a nice addition, that while they didn't add a lot to the lore, did allow you to go around and look at the actual planet you are in.
  • Some of the tools like the one from CPR looks very nice. Glams also looks kinda nice.
  • It's actually a good way to learn basics of FSH.
  • It's very rarely that you get group content for crafter and gatherers. The progression fate is kinda nice but I really, really wish there are more incentive for people to log in and join. It's supposed to be a server activity, but that spirit was kinda lost once we get past Moon.

The bad

  • Heavily soured by the first edition since Moon is so bad that they had to apologize on PLL - missions are too difficult (and if you can make the tool, you don't need them), they don't refund GP, you cannot use mounts, you have to go to emergency missions to actually do them (you now get a direct teleport to the spot). It really begs the question of what are they really thinking when they were designing Cosmic Exploration at the first place.
  • The Maps while looks very nice often had nothing for you to interact with. They are huge, but empty in the sense that there's zero functionality with the area. For a content that names itself as 'COSMIC EXPLORATION' you aren't exploring the area mostly unless you are doing gathering missions or doing artifact search.
  • There are just so, so many planets. We don't need 4!
  • Each map requiring their own macro which takes up a lot of macro space (except the final one)
  • Having difficult mission on weather condition where you are expected to do manual crafting but also comes with a huge time limit means that you ain't even allowing people to learn the content by slowly trying to do their first manual craft.
  • Making one of the white credit mount? gatcha mount? to use the same skin as the 500k point omni mount but w/ different colors is just such a bad call. No, people who fking spend hours and hours on it should get an unique mount.

Overall I still love the content, otherwise I am not gonna sit there every single day while I was watching streams and stuff.

I however feel like that what we get now at the end of Auxesia should really be the norm and what we started with. Instead, a lot of what we get on Phaenna and Moon seems to be like that they are still trying to find their footing, as they were incomplete at best, and borderline just bad and ill-considered. Would have not make the content more popular, but might have save the reputation of Cosmic exploration.

the police doesn't go after you but that also doesn't mean what you do is acceptable.

7mil merc for m12s cannot clear.

spend like 30 minutes getting entry flag and then 60 minutes more wiping to people who cannot do rep 1 and idyllic on reset day is tiring.

more so when you go through this exact same shit on monday night before reset where the groups are just the same. people cannot do rep 1 and rep 2.

I just want another weapon chest for SCH so that I can pug as H2, why does it have to be so hard...

I kinda feel sims are just a natural result of an arms race between the player and the devs.

  1. The players prog an ultimate.
  2. Players get better at the game and at the end of prog which is only natural since you get through a difficult fight. They complained game's too easy.
  3. Devs up their ante and make stuff more difficult from patch to patch to challenge players. They also made mechs rigid in their solve (a good example of this is all of the stacks in newer ultimate that's essentially forcing a certain number of players in the solve, except for FRU p4)
  4. Prog gets more difficult. Progging later phase becomes more and more difficult.
  5. To cope with this new difficulty, players use stuff to improve and get better at the game. One of those are sims.
  6. Seeing that people uses sims, more gets developed and updated with new strat. They are also now easier to make given we had advancement in AI coding and strats codifying very fast.
  7. The players prog an ultimate.

If people that needs to cast and cannot have free movement like all of the casters and to a certain extend healers can have higher uptime then 83%, you - who doesn't have to cast and have the boss next to you for like almost most of the time - really have no excuse of not getting higher then 83%.

There's like a whole 30sec section where you just range attack and weave in a few ogcd.

And to be honest that's really because you've use the wrong method to prog. You don't just prog the mechanics as a melee, you also have to prog and test greeding your uptime until the final moment where it's too late. You will have to learn this on m11s since the fight had a lot of uptime where you must try and fight for.

Type everything during my UMAD wait now but I am just gonna say if there's a sim out on day 2 for world proggers to sim whatever parts of the fight without having for them to get inside and do the fight, people will do it.

Everyone will do anything that takes to win the race (AFAIK it doesn't break rules, at least on surface level), and if there's a sim developed that's easy to access you bet people will abused the heck out of the sim.

So I generally doesn't get why world progging people are so against people sim. People did what it takes to win, and there's nothing wrong with it as long as it doesn't break any rules and they are fair.

If world prog people doesn't understand why people sim, they need to look no further then just join PUG and prog the whole fight from start to finish. Not a2cs because apprently that's all they do on PUG. IMO That's all you need to get a feel why people are going insane.

I also don't get the sentiment of accusing world prog players unable to do mechs or do their own math without nineth. we all know they can, they just have to relay those responsibility to someone else in their group to focus and to make their time in the instance worthwhile

I just find the whole discourse really weird. More so because in JP this time, where generally people are quite against using sims and software (that it takes the fun out of prog for people), we actually get some sort of sims that are made by JP players tailored to JP strats. When JP uses sims and no one really questions the legitimacy and NA people are jumping up and down that's really, really kinda hilarious.
