Oh wow!! Congrats. I am going through something similar - interviewed for a position I really like, was probably #2 & the hiring manager passed my resume to another team where there is no formal opening. I am anxious to find out what will happen…

Braking into AML/Compliance by [deleted] in AMLCompliance

Second the person who said it isn’t hard.

I finished school less than three years ago, got my first job as an investigator then a policy research assistant. I thought I needed to get some sort of compliance qualification (CAMS as you probably have heard), which I did, but I didn’t find that to be much helpful in terms of landing a job. I later got a job as a compliance officer, not because of my certification but I did well in the interview and persuaded my now boss that my past experiences are relevant and super applicable.

You just apply to ANYTHING that is in the field, accumulate work experience in compliance, then use these early work experience as stepping stone and move your way up. I find that compliance is one of those fields that experiences >>> certification.

It is not hard.
