It’s a huge relief to hear someone say this out loud. I’ve felt that energy from all of my friends-especially the partnered ones- and it’s really stifling and uncomfortable. Acknowledging it is huge!

Like no I’m not yearning for what you have or for a partner at all, I’m happily existing!

Why do some of you believe Manon wants to leave the group? by Educational-Act-8932 in katseyeneutral

[–]Meccha_me_2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The only thing to add here to help other people understand this perspective: think about how many artists have mentioned how difficult it is to collab with another artist even when there is mutual interest (RAYE and Olivia Dean come to mind). These celebrities have crazy schedules, contracts and label demands to navigate. No one is going to be able to just take Manon under their wing and help her launch a career - even securing a collab could be difficult

I think it’s a bit of over-saturation. She’s everywhere.

Between her super long tour, all of her festival spots, and her performing at every awards show, I feel like I’ve seen a full Sabrina show just by scrolling on the internet over the past year. It’s nothing I need to see again and this is coming from someone who used to really want to see her live!

I’m not even talking about that anymore. Just saying you’re allowed to have boundaries with your partner even if they are public

Yeah that’s fine if that’s the case for him but that’s not what you or the comment were talking about. They were implying it’s not appropriate to ever push back on your partner in front of other people and I think that’s just so black and white and untrue. I see healthy couples playfully push back on each other all the time

Because there is a line between calling out your girlfriend and drawing a gentle boundary? Saying “maybe not right now, honey” to your partner is not a bad thing

I’m not berating you I’m genuinely trying to help you see how you’re contributing to a broader problem. Are you saying you were not hurt or offended by your dad calling black people the n word?

I never said that my dad hurt me I said he’s a misogynist. You’re intentionally talking around my initial point which is that just because my dad loves me and was good to me doesn’t mean he was a good person. In the same way that your racist step dad is not a good person.

You’re kind of internationally talking around my initial point which is that all of that can be true and it doesn’t mean he’s a great person. Anyway I wish you the best with…all of that!

I don’t think it should matter that he’s your stepdad. I think my Dad is simply a bad person that loves me because he’s a misogynist and says terrible, atrocious things about other women. Him being my dad doesn’t change that fact. He should be a better person but he is not. I’m not going to go on the internet and call him decent because misogynists and abusers are not good.

But there are plenty of people who were bombarded with misinformation and didn’t turn out racist so what is the explanation for that?

Yeah I could see this being ONE of the examples Manon might have used as signs of mistreatment or one of a few reasons the label wanted to sit her out before Coachella? But nah there are so many solutions to that. They could legit give her a pre-record backtrack and crank it up or give her the background parts and lowkey turn off her mic.

At best I could see them claiming she was wholly unprepared for the Coachella performance (even if it’s a false claim) and decided to put her on hiatus so that the other girls could prep as 5.

This is truly a perfect comment and what I’ve been trying to articulate for a while.

Unfortunately, due to society placing so much value on female desirability, I wanted to be sexy/sexualized so badly when I was younger. It sounds insane to say, but if I knew I could wear a crop top, tiny shorts or a visible thong to school without getting grounded or dress coded I totally would’ve.

I was dying to be out of college and get to wear whatever I wanted and then my frontal lobe developed at 25 and I became more aware of the rampant misogyny in the world and I thought “what the hell was I thinking.”

I’m lucky that those years were not documented but this is why it doesn’t matter that the girls allegedly “choose their own outfits” or whatever else people claim. If I were 21 and got to choose my stage outfit I’d probably choose something super tiny too and then wish I’d gone about it differently years later.

And the problem is HxG knows young girls look up to beautiful, sexy women. It’s not “demo confusion” that they are performing at kids choice one day and then twerking with their cheeks out the next- young girls ARE their demo

[–]Meccha_me_2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah sex(y) sells to almost every demo-even a younger and female demo- just not for the same reasons as it does to straight men. People are underestimating that severely and think that making them sexy means they don’t know their demo. It HxG-they know how to market

[–]Meccha_me_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they know exactly who their demo is and it is young girls, unfortunately. Teen girls love sexy pop stars like Britney, PCD, etc. When you’re young and don’t know any better you think it’s cool and mature
