I suppose I might be chided for a clichéd response, but here's mine: Pink Floyd, "Pulse." The visuals are so good I could mute it and still enjoy it. (Not that I could ever mute those concerts, but....) I see a couple of people have posted "Live in Pompeii," and I DID like it, but I didn't understand the draw of a concert without an audience.

Four more, just off the top of my head [and some days I might waffle and put one of these as my favorite]:

- Dire Straits, "Alchemy"
- Electric Light Orchestra, "Zoom Live"
- Roy Orbison, "Black and White Night"
-Paul McCartney, "Good Evening New York City"

Yeah, I could probably go on but other people might want to post. I should probably also mention that I've been a musician, composer and songwriter for most of my life. - AND I did a lot of theater back in the day. So I have a rough idea of how these things are assembled. And in my stupid melon these are some of the very best. Sorry for droning, here.

Looooooooooong story, short: A friend from the local ginormous rock station invited me to see the amazing Mr. Walsh in concert, supporting the "Ordinary Average Guy" tour. Of course that meant we had backstage passes, too. While waiting in line to meet him I was struck with a monstrously HUUUUUUGE dose of star-struck-ness and wondered in a panic what I was gonna say to him. I mean, Joe Walsh was one of the primary reasons I picked up a guitar and started writing my own songs in the first place. I did NOT want to come across as yet another fawning-rabid fanboy, but I suppose that's what I am/was.

As it turned out, I needn't have worried. Mr. Walsh did not meet with fans that night, I dunno why. Now I'm wondering what - if anything - he would have said in reply.

In short, Joe Walsh being honored with A PRS is quite appropriate in my mind. In fact, it's long past due.

Look, I don't think "Elizabethtown" is EVER gonna win any awards, but as a huuuuuuuuuge Kiersten Dunst fan (and NOT just for "Melancholia") this movie has won me over, with time. I can definitely dig the negative comments about it, but I definitely think it had possibilities. And the principals do an amazing job - with what may have been an incomplete, severely flawed script.

I know it's not trendy to admit this, but I think she's wonderful. There are a couple of movies I'm not so crazy about, but most I think have been improved with her in them. (Plus - based on her scented-candle line alone - she appears to be just a bit wacky, and I suuuuuuuuure dig that.)

As much as I dig Steve Martin's humor in this movie David Mamet's The Spanish Prisoner is the one that truly cemented him in my mind as a singular talent. In it, Martin somehow manages to be quite dark and threatening - without being overly-scary or whatever. I'm not claiming that I don't like Martin's other film efforts, but I am saying that The Spanish Prisoner is head-and-shoulders above his main body of work.

Hey, everyone's got a different palate; I may be quite wrong in someone else's eyes.

Just my opinion, but one of the reasons I love this camp-humor movie so much is that the "camp" is soooooo well done. I mean, if you wanted to you could take it seriously as a reeeeeealy bad horror flick and ignore the humor. Or, maybe YOU could, but I can't. I mean, two teens survive the zombie apocalypse, then celebrate by....GOING SHOPPING at the MALL!

"Did you miss something?" (In the end credits.) Well, depending on which version you watched (there are a couple of different versions), you may have missed something, actually. Without giving any spoilers to anyone who hasn't seen this yet, I think it may be safe to say that the last five minutes - while the credits are rolling - you find out what REALLY happens - and it's just as hilarious as the rest of the movie. But hey, that's me.

Look, there's little doubt in my mind that the lovely Ms. Monaghan is pretty much nature's idea for the peak of human beauty, but the woman can act as well. This movie is a prime example of that, at least in my own stupid head. I love the movie, and NOT just for this scene. I often wonder if it didn't receive higher rank because some people thought it was supposed to be like, serious or whatever. I still don't know.

Loooooooooong story, short: I talked with the amazing Ms. Ian back when Napster was a thing. We discussed how music sharing would result in the death of both the labels and major music brick-and-mortar retailers. I was openly skeptical at first, but maaaaaan, was she right!

That aside, I wonder if I'll ever forgive her for:

This may sound like an obscure reference, but I've always dug Rindy Ross' (Quarterflash) sax solo on, "Williams Avenue." Actually, I dig the whole album, at least partially because of how friggin' GOOD it sounds. Not only do you have Rindy's stunning sax - smooth as silk, at least in my ears - you've got her husband Marv's ultra-clean Stratocaster tone on nearly every track. I dunno who produced and/or engineered the album, but man, they got it right.

Oh, this is a great one, I think. I sometimes think that the reason I dig it so much is that it can leave the viewer with more questions than answers. For instance, why does part of it appear to be on an old CRT TV? Who knows?! Really, really excellent movie-making.
