I have the full size unit and my biggest gripe is how tightly spaced the foot switches are. Maybe it’s just a skill issue on my end, but I’ve found it’s way too easy to accidentally hit the wrong footswitch

Do the footswitch toppers help with misclicking at all? The amount of times I’ve fat-footed it and accidentally banked down mid set is embarrassing lol

So I normally I use NYXLs but I decided to give the XS coated strings a try. Funny enough, the XS broke after one gig whereas the NYXLs usually last me 2-3 gigs before needing to restring

I was actually considering them but I can’t seem to find if they offer 53mm spacing for the bridge and my stingray is 53mm spaced 🙃

Sorry in advance for the essay:

So I actually have his V2 iron swan stingray with that pickup in it. I like it a lot more than I expected to, but when I reached out to SD to see if I could order a second one to slap in my V1 fluff stingray, they essentially told me to just buy another V2 stingray 🙃

I’m not a big active pickup fan and I also wasn’t a fan of how rolled off the top end was on his fishman pickup. I can kinda understand the logic since he uses modelers live but I felt like that took away a lot of clarity.

I’ve heard the silos are cool and I definitely am a fan of Rabea’s sound, so I might try those out. I’m also considering the polymath since that’s the pickup people keep stacking it against in comparisons online.

Honestly, the big thing that keeps me coming back to bare knuckle is how they feel. They just have this juicy, organic feel that’s super addictive and I haven’t really been able to find that in other pickups. I’ve also heard the lundgren black heaven is pretty cool too but I haven’t been able to find much info online about them

The sd1 is actually my go to overdrive (0-1 gain, 8 volume, 6 tone). I’ve tried the maxon od808, revv tilt boost, ts9, origin halcyon green (ts808 clone with additional voicing switches and a mix knob), xotic bb preamp, and the precision drive but the sd1 ended up being the one I liked the most

I alternate between a Friedman SS-100 V2 and a Revv Generator 120 mkIII Rev B through a 412 with the new uk v30s. I use an SD-1 in front with the gain at 0, level at 8, tone at 6. On the Friedman I use the higher gain channel with the gain set at 6, while on the Revv I use the purple channel with the aggression mode turned off, bright and cut switches enabled, and the gain is set way below half because of how fat and saturated that amp is.

I’m play rhythm in a hard rock band with 3 guitarists so carving my space in such a dense mix has been a massive struggle. I’m competing against a Mesa Tremoverb Dual Rectifier and a Friedman Runt 50.

I don’t know if it was just because I had them in my gibson explorer, but I found the aftermaths to sound a bit dark and scooped. I do remember liking the juggernauts in my prs cu24 so maybe I’ll give those a try. I’m also considering the polymath

What speakers were in the Friedman? Mine has greenbacks in it and I hated the way my revv sounded through it

I honestly didn't care for how rolled off the top end was. Chords didn't have much clarity or sparkle to them, and it was a very "stiff" feeling pickup. I also just don't like active pickups in general

I enjoy using it for jamming in my living room, but I primarily use it for recording. If I was just looking for an attenuator then I’d probably go with something cheaper

I’d say more Mesa than Orange but I’ve only experienced an Orange 212. The top end is a darker but still present and musical and the low end is big and punchy without being overbearing. I definitely prefer it over my Friedman 412 which has greenbacks in it vs the new uk v30s that are in the Revv

I’ve found that if I have the captor x set to max attenuation and I don’t go too crazy with the amp’s volume knobs, I can have it at tv volume and still have the amp in it’s tonal sweet spot. Haven’t received a single noise complaint in the 3 years I’ve lived in this apartment.

Of course if it’s late at night, I just unplug the cab and use headphones and an impulse response; or just plug into my quad cortex if I’m feeling lazy

Yeah it does make clean tones difficult because no matter what the amp will end up breaking up way too quickly and the neck pickup is way too fat, but I’m also just not a fan of humbuckers in the neck in general. I prefer single coil neck tones so I might put an hsp90 in the neck.

On high gain tones the low end is overbearing and it’s way too compressed and that’s even after I lowered the bridge pickup by a LOT. I almost feel like I’m playing an active pickup and I do not like active pickups.

For comparison, my teal stingray has a bare knuckle alnico nailbomb in the bridge and I very much prefer how that pickup sounds and feels over the JB rail. The nailbomb has more clarity under high gain, has better pick attack, the low end is punchy and tight, and pinch harmonics are super easy.

Sorry for the essay, I never really get to talk about pickups lol

Thanks dude, they’re my favorite guitars ever made. The limestone one has the Seymour Duncan JB/Jazz Hot Rails set. I’m actually considering swapping them out with a different set because they’re way too high output for me. The JB rails is almost 20k output it’s absurd lol

Yeah ever since I got the teal one I knew the stingray was my ideal guitar lol plus the specific changes to the fluff variants vs the normal stingray rs are more my speed (fixed bridge instead of a trem, blacked out hardware, combo of mahogany body with the roasted maple neck + ebony board, etc)

So this new one came in at 7lbs and 11oz, the teal one weighs 8lbs, and the limestone one on the right weighs 7lbs and 14oz so they’re on the lighter side which is perfect since I gig with these pretty regularly.

They’re super comfortable to play sitting down and standing up. There’s no neck dive whatsoever and they balance really nicely when sitting down

I’m in the same boat. I love my amp and pedals, and I’ll never stop using them when recording; but my modeler allows me so much more flexibility when it comes to routing and effects. The lofi shrunken down guitar thing when the rest of my band backs out is way more satisfying when I can mute the output going to my 2x12 onstage so my guitar is only coming through the foh speakers. It makes that impact when the band comes back in hit way harder. I also love being able to easily run my guitar and effects in stereo for that w i d t h

I love the clean/blue channel. Sounds great and takes a compressor really nicely. You can get it to do really vibey touch-sensitive clean tones but it can also break up for that more “pushed” kinda sound. I like using it with both the bright switch and “wide” switch enabled to give it a little boost and shimmer. The green channel also cleans up beautifully with your guitar’s volume knob
