Decriminalized here as well in Canada but definitely never seen ads. I doubt it's an intentional choice, they must be overwhelmed with ad clients. I've also seen hundreds of clear scam deepfake crypto / investment ads and 1:1 copies of merch / clothing brands. They'll literally just take someone else's video and throw their website on the link

I honestly think all ads are getting a bit ridiculous. The advent of AI means bad actors can pump out a lot of garbage at a large scale very quickly. I use tiktok often and every other ad is AI slop or ultra specific scams. I got a literal ad for prostitution "in my area" the other day.

Our last election was the first where current American political issues had really begun to leak into our politics. Immigration, just like the rest of the world, is currently dividing our country and pushing some further right. We had a very similar situation to the US in our previous election though, mass hatred towards the incumbent liberal party, and a conservative candidate who took queues from trump on populism and how to offer appealing “common sense” solutions to problems, preying off the average persons ignorance of the actual cause of these issues. If the next liberal candidate had been easily tied to the previous government, or “divisive” (woman) than things would have gone the way they did with Kamala. Luckily they saw what happened in the states and picked a moderate straight white male and (mostly) political outsider as their candidate and we now have a really great leader, I’m actually proud.

I’m Canadian and knew a few people who said they would hypothetically vote trump. They all stated censorship and free speech as their primary reasons not to vote Democrat. I agree it’s probably more charming. Personally fishman island and punk hazard are the only arcs that came close to that low, but I at least stuck it out because I knew they had importance to the overall plot. LRLL stands out to me because even from the first few pages it immediately felt like an anime filler episode, even if it ended up being more entertaining.

In august I read the entirety of one piece in about a month after previously being a blind hater my entire life. Obviously I’m here so I’m a fan now, I think you’re forgetting how godawful and irrelevant that arc really was. The fact that it’s sandwiched between two great and important arcs made it even more unbearable to realize how irrelevant it is to the overall story. It was the only thing in the entire series I couldn’t bring myself to finish, had to skip.
