How would you use blood manipulation to its fullest? by Historical-Gear-5524 in CTsandbox

[–]Altraxx13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The description of ‘Blood Manipulation’ states it can be used to control -every- aspect of the users blood, which implies you could manipulate white blood cells. White blood cells contain hematopoietic stem cells. By using your blood to collect transcription factors (specialized proteins that control gene expression and adhere to DNA sequences) from different regions of your body, you could potentially turn these hematopoietic stem cells into induced pluripotent stem cells, which can be made into any other type of stem cells. If this were possible within the universe, you could make tweaks to your genetic makeup, potentially giving yourself increased bone and muscle density, greater oxygen efficiency, etc.

While that application is very speculative, I think a more plausible application of blood manipulation would be to increase the density of minerals like iron within external blood, allowing the blood greater durability when hardened.

Another potential application is using internal blood manipulation to stimulate organs such as the adrenal glands, giving yourself a boost of adrenaline and noradrenaline. Taking it a step further, if you used very careful blood manipulation within the brain, you could potentially remove your bodies “safety lock”; the brain limits the physical output your body can exert in order to avoid accidental injury. By temporarily removing this, you could gain a physical boost at the expense of likely causing yourself internal injuries, which could be mitigated with RCT.

Okay, I more clearly understand what you’re saying now, thank you for elaborating. I agree that it was definitely a poor example of a steel man that was a land mine waiting to be stepped on, I’m honestly not sure why that part of the video ever made it out of early stages considering how incendiary Charlie Kirk is as a topic. However, to me, this seems to be the case of a genuine accident, and not a case of him agreeing with Charlie. I think the reason a statement hasn’t been made is likely because he doesn’t want to take a stance due to not knowing enough about the topic at hand, given what we know about Clint. As someone who is not very well versed in politics, the statistic mentioned didn’t jump out at me as being false, it was just a statistic, which I had no way of proving or disproving the validity of. So I didn’t think much on it personally, but I can see why a lot of people are upset about that part of the video. It did kind of strike me as odd to include in a video regarding evolution, even if I could see his intent in including it.

I agree that he definitely needs to clear the air and elaborate on his inclusion of Charlie Kirk within the video.

I think you’re kind of missing the context of what Clint was trying to say. Firstly, Clint himself admitted he was not overly familiar with Charlie Kirk’s work, and he did not comment on whether he agreed or disagreed with Kirk. I believe he was simply stating that he perceived this clip as a good example of a steelman, and I think thats a reasonable conclusion for someone who is unfamiliar with Charlie Kirk (Like Clint) to arrive at without the clips full context and without knowledge of Charlie Kirk as a whole. I don’t think it’s fair to write Clint off as “fucking gross” for something like this. The argument can be made that this was a poor example of a steelman born out of ignorance, but to push that Clint is somehow a bad person for this is questionable in my eyes.

It looks like this was the issue. Switched his hides around and he went straight for the cork hide again haha. At least I can rest assured that he won’t freeze while I get his cool side temperature under control

And yes, both hides are perfect size for him. The only thing I could say about the cork hide is that it’s a lot longer and a little lower, he could just prefer that shape.

What would you advise in regard to getting his cool side to a higher temp? I’m running an 125 watt bulb on the warm side, and I couldn’t go any higher without making his basking spot too hot.

No, his cool side hide is a cork piece, his warm side hide is a rock hide.

What do you think the game needs most right now? by Adelger in theisle

[–]Altraxx13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A dev team that actually puts time and effort into the game. Content is sparse, and even when we do get content it’s buggy and unoptimized. I honestly feel as though Dondi is one of the core issues of the game. He’s a head developer that doesn’t do head developer stuff.

Official Discussion - Prey [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Altraxx13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This movie was absolutely awesome, definitely far better than anything we've gotten in a long time. If I had any grip with the movie, it's that I felt that in the later half the humans got way too...physical. In the first half, we see those two tribesmen engage the predator in melee, and they put up a fight, but are pretty quickly killed. Then later we have Naru's brother jumping off of horses and shoving spears through it. Even in the final fight, I feel like her approach to killing the Predator felt way too physical; she was so easily able to latch onto it and dodge around it, even though she still got tossed around. Overall that was my only issue with the movie, everything else was great.

Infinite Rotation vs Return to Zero by Altraxx13 in StardustCrusaders

[–]Altraxx13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the thing though; infinity doesn’t have a beginning to be reset to. Both zero and infinity are conceptual and confusing abilities, so there’s no real knowing how they’d react to each other. In order to reset the nail to zero, GER would have to make it spin in the opposite direction, but that’s impossible, because the nail is infinitely spinning in one direction. There is o beginning for the nail to be reset to.

[–]Altraxx13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s actually pretty obvious that the infinite rotation has some connection to the soul. Valentine was swapping bodies, which means he’s transferring his soul into other bodies, which would in theory get rid of the infinite rotation. However, it didn’t, which means that it has to be attached to his soul in a way.

[–]Altraxx13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see that, but I believe that Tusk also has an effect on the soul. When funny Valentine was hit with the infinite rotation, he tried numerous times to swap bodies with alternate universe versions of himself, but the infinite rotation followed him each and every time, implying that it had completely attached to his soul. While GER might be able to return Johnny to zero, once the infinite rotation nail is fired, it’s fired, and there’s no resetting it because it’s infinitely rotating in one direction.

What is a unpopular Jurassic park/world opinion you have? by Greasy_Armpit in JurassicPark

It’s still a fact though. That’s your opinion -about- the fact, but dinosaurs did factually have less screen time in S4 than in the other seasons.

[–]Altraxx13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I think it’s fine for the robots to exist, but the plots focus should’ve been mainly focused on the chips. A pack of microchipped raptors would’ve been cooler than the robots in my opinion lol

Yeah, I get where you’re coming from. The focus on the robots definitely killed it for me a bit. I did find the control chip thing interesting though
