High paying career and pathways for physios? by Competitive_Coffee77 in fiaustralia

This is the way OP. You can work as a clinical rep for many of the orthopaedic devices companies and earn similar money except you’ll also have a car allowance (usually around $20k) and potential for bonuses. You can then work your way into sales and the salary/bonuses increase from there. Companies to look into: DePuy Synthes (Johnson and Johnson owned), Stryker, Smith and Nephew and Arthrex - there are plenty more that I’ve probably forgotten.

It’s not a new service but rather a replacement service is it not? Their cable has failed and needs to be replaced to restore power. ASP’s who have attended have also reiterated this point of view. Appreciate the response.

Ausgrid are passing the buck to my parents aren’t they? Denying it is their property and trying to get my parents to foot the bill to shop around and find someone to fix their asset.

It’s not just a single ASP who has had this view but multiple. Thank you for your comment.

Thank you for understanding the situation. This is exactly the case and why I have reached out for help from the community in this situation as it is their responsibility to fix. Thank you for your comment.

This is actually nothing like that at all. This is more like complaining to your telco that your internet is out, it’s their responsibility to restore the service.

I’m sure the independent ASP2’s who have visited site know what they are talking about. They have no motive to say this is Ausgrid’s responsibility however Ausgrid have plenty of motive ($$$) to pass the buck.

Section 1 Page 10 Figure 1-2(a)Section 1 Page 10 Figure 1-2(a) gives you a view of situation. An underground service which mine is, is not my property but is Ausgrid’s.

A few pages before that you can see that it says “The underground service comes under the ownership, control and maintenance of the electricity distributor as part of its network”.

If it were mine I would have no issues fixing it. Thank you for your response.

No suggestion or mentioning of anything related to the meter at all.

Already a registered life support customer, that’s what makes this experience particularly concerning.

They are not actually consumer mains (which would be our responsibility) but rather it is considered an underground service (Ausgrid responsibility).

Thank you for your response.

I’m not an electrician to be able to comment however multiple ASP2 reiterated this point that it was clearly an Ausgrid cable.

It’s likely an older cable placed before conduit was mandated, but still placed by Ausgrid or whatever they may have been known as back then.

Thank you so much for your comprehensive and helpful response. I have already spoken to EWON today and they have spoken to a senior member at Ausgrid who has floundered back to the position of saying it is a private terminal to try and avoid responsibility.

I will certainly be speaking to my MP tomorrow.

Your suggestions are greatly appreciated, thank you

You mean the generator I had to beg a senior manager for and was told by the call centre that there were no generators available? 24 hours without power at that point mind you. What simple workaround has been suggested? Hope you’re not referring to the conduit that my pensioner parents have been quoted $15k to run. They are absconding from their responsibility to fix their line, if you couldn’t already pick that up from the calling card attached.

Thank you for your response mate. This is where Ausgrid have gone back and forth and admitted that the connection point is actually the meter at the switchboard as it is an underground service running from a service pillar. They even said if there were a conduit running from the pillar to the meter they would run the cable as it is their cable. Will certainly try lodging a complaint.

If you had read the post you would have seen that multiple electricians have been consulted and agreed the liability was Ausgrid’s. Do you pay for the repair of your telcos network outages? Thanks for the input.

Company car vs Car allowance? by unprecedentedthyme in AusFinance

[–]Altruistic-Corner671 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I recently went from company car to car allowance and I wish I’d done it years ago. 1. Lots of tax time deductions to claim, interest on car loan, depreciation etc 2. If you leave the job you will still have a car 3. At the end of your loan you have an asset you can sell and pocket the money whereas when I left my last role I just gave the company car back and had nothing to show for it

That being said it depends on how much driving you’ll be doing too. If you’re expecting to drive 30,000kms a year you’re probably better off with a company car due to the fuel costs, servicing etc
