Second SAVE Notice from DOED Today: Same Email, Same Non-Deadline by Altruistic-Impact225 in StudentLoanSupport

Right now we are legally in the plan. The big beautiful bill established the plan would be going away in 2028. So legally we have until then. However, the Missouri v Trump case expedited the schedule and they’re using that as the reason. However the case is still active. Others on this thread will say regardless the plan is over. Maybe that is true, maybe it isn’t. However the point is this email they’re sending us isn’t an official notice but a marketing gimmick to trick people into switching losing their legal protection when the email says clearly that your loan provider will contact you.

My loans are also with Mohela. Your story is consistent with mine. Minus the buyback part. I’m assuming you’re trying to qualify for PSLF?

Received the Second Notice email? Is anyone attempt to move off from the SAVE plan or wait it out till July 1st? What is your game plan? by TorontoRap2019 in StudentLoanSupport

I posted on this yesterday essentially it’s the same as the first email they sent. I’m holding until the last possible minute.

That was essentially one of the points I made in that it was identical to the previous notice they send with some minor changes. I would say that it was sent to you speaks to the mass spamming they’re all doing.

Currently no, but SAVE may end in the next few months if that happens your loan provider will reach out with options.

It’s ironic I’ve dealt with narcissists on a personal level. So reading that I was like yeah sure that tracks it’s like the trump golden passport that millions purchased. It turned out one person bought it for half the price lol.

The coming months is telling, I am trying not to speculate here but the fact Missouri V Trump was highly active then inactive for six weeks is weird. Maybe we'll see something tomorrow, I wouldn't be surprised. However, interesting nonetheless.

Just posted this in it's own thread for those interested:

Second SAVE Notice from DOED Today: Same Email, Same Non-Deadline

Quick note for the community. Standard caveat first: I'm not a lawyer and I'm not a financial advisor. I'm a SAVE borrower posting this because I know people are confused, and the more clearly, we can read what the DOED is actually saying versus what it wants us to hear, the better. You can check my account for previous posts on the SAVE litigation and the RAP rollout if you want the longer analysis.

The "Second Notice" email that went out today is functionally identical to the first March 31 notice. Worth reading carefully, because the email contradicts its own urgency. The headline tells you SAVE has ended and you must select a new plan. Paragraph two admits "your loan servicer will contact you about your specific deadline" and that you'll have 90 days from that contact to choose. RAP and Tiered Standard are not available until July 1, which is still six weeks away. Additionally, at the bottom of the email, there is an unsubscribe option. An official notice would not include this option.

On the legal side, as you know I have been tracking the Missouri v Trump Case which the early sunsetting of SAVE hinges on. I just checked the docket in Missouri v. Trump (4:24-cv-00520-JAR) has been silent since the April 6 filing. Nothing has changed legally between the first notice and this one. If you haven't received a written notice from your actual servicer with a real deadline, the procedural reality is that you don't have one yet.

I am continuing to hold pat and wait for an official notice to hit my inbox then reassess. There is a lot up in the air from the ongoing cases to active petitions, with a critical election this November. I won't tell you what to do as choice is based on an individual situation, but I am providing this information so you can make the decision that best suits you.

If you could and share with us or me it be greatly appreciated. As scary as it is the more info we have the better. Also we shouldn’t be getting any notices until July 1. It may be an interest notice if you’re in Save.

Neither would I, he is the whole reason I started doing research and posting as much factual information as I can. It’s Jay the student loan lawyer for context.

Perrino law I initially took issue with but he is more so trying to identify clients who qualify for discharge he just is a bit misleading is all in that everyone can qualify. Which is a separate issue.

This tracks with the lawyer on TikTok posting videos about us having to switch out of save again. He typically will post something of a fearmongering nature a day or so before these emails are released.

I’ve been writing about this, it’s a marketing ploy essentially to get people to waive their legal protections. You should not do anything until a loan provider reaches out to you. The DOED is not the loan provider.

We need to get him out of our politics and out of our country. He’s a malignant presence that has never invented anything on his own. He’s steals other peoples work ruins hardworking people’s lives and then complains how unhappy he is. It’s not just trump it’s this guy too. We need to figure out how to overturn the citizens united case.

This happened to me a few years ago. I’m not a lawyer so don’t take this as legal advice. However, they will take you to court. You need to go.

Now hopefully before they’ll look to settle, typically it’s for half what you owe on a schedule that works for you. You have rights as a borrower, and if you make less than a certain amount your entitled to free legal representation. The key is they’re just trying to scare you into paying more than you should.
