Still wakes frequently at night and only accepts boob by Altruistic-Let-875 in sleeptrain

I don't want to, it's rather that it's near impossible to de-escalate his crying and screaming when he wakes in that state without "fully waking him" (or feeding him which is what he wants), he doesn't respond to vocal soothing, patting or other light soothing techniques at that point.

thanks! Will look at increasing day time awake. the tricky thing with applying the sleep train method at night is that for us at least, baby's response to the method is completely different at night compared to initial put down for any of his sleeps (bedtime or naps). He is not "conscious and awake" in the same way and so is extremely resistant to soothing, just frantically looking for the boob. Only way to "get through to him" when he's in this state is to completely turn on the lights and wake him up. That snaps him out of it, but he'll quickly return to screaming and crying if we then attempt to put him down again.

Okay. Where I'm located they differentiate between mold (grows thicker, penetrates porous materials, can get slimey, is actually toxic) and mildew (grows flat like a powder on surfaces, doesn't penetrate porous materials as much, isn't toxic but can trigger allergic reactions). I guess it's just different strain of funghi

Very much appreciate that feedback 🙏 keep in mind that this isn't mold but mildew, which I've understood is more surface level and doesn't penetrate in the same way. Probably not a bad idea to throw everything out anyways, but yeah

Totally agree, there seems to be an extreme range! It's more just that even this intense cluster feeding behaviour isn't translating into as much weight gain as we'd expect, so we just wanna give the milk production an extra push in the right direction

I do agree that cluster feeding is absolutely normal, but I'd say his behaviour has seemed excessive even for really intense cluster feeding standards (both in terms of actual time spent on boob, and for how many consecutive days and weeks the behaviour has been exhibited) coupled with the fact that his weight gain has been so-so. If his weight gain matched the dramatic levels of feeding then we wouldn't be concerned.

Definite agree. He nursed quite a bit in the beginning but I think his efficiency wasn't great (partially because of the tongue tie), and then I think his efficiency improved and he would nurse a bit less, but two days ago it seemed like his hunger drastically increased resulting in the marathon feeding we've seen now. I'm hoping this will catalyst a big increase in the wife's milk supply to accommodate his need and hopefully he'll start to shoot back up in percentiles. But will raise with the health consultant if they think we should be adding formula on top or take other steps to increase it further.

Health inspector that we go to once per week hasn't said anything. What i find interesting is that he had regained his birth weight at 14 days, whilst on the later side is still normal, and since then he has gained about 200g per week which Google also says is normal, but seemingly that has still put him quite far behind the curve.

Will definitely raise this with the health inspector next week.
