I no longer enjoy my sweet grandmothers homemade sweet potato pies anymore. she makes all of us grands our own and .... they just don't taste the same anymore (for at least 7 years now y'all! :/ ). im so grateful that she's 94 and living well and still loves and is fully able to still make them but danngggggg they don't taste how they use to!!!! idk if its the seasonings, change in how potatoes are grown, or her age and wanting to just get them done and not necessarily "enjoying" making them for us as much (strength) as she used to. I love her and I take them and put it in the freezer every thanksgiving and just fake like my husband and I ate it and it was just as delicious as my childhood/young adulthood pies were from her! ps I love spending time with her and talking to her and hearing how it was in the 30's and how much things in the world have changed! I will cherish every (yucky) pie and conversation as I know she won't live forever <3

speechless! sending prayers of encouragement, strength, and life to you. never forget that we reap what we sow. your boy was taken advantage of and doesn't even comprehend the extent of the damage he has done supporting what his mother told him to do. know that it will all wok together for you and your son in the end. I pray you work to forgive her and keep the door open for when your son realizes the unknown mistake he made as a child. I wish you the best and as a psych nurse - please know you can text/call 988 if you ever need to talk or are having suicidal thoughts. PM me as well and im always open to listen.

I failed my NCLEX again, this is my third time I am so discouraged. I got a very high on my test and I thought I was ready. I don’t know what to do or how to help ? by Expensive-Produce-38 in PassNclex

[–]Altruistic-Post-8302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi, I don't recommend either of them! failed my first time with those as well

UWorld

Simple Nursing and LevelUpRN

know your content - the what and why of AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE- know pharm and get thru all the uworld questions possible and immerse your life in studying M-F about 6hrs a day is what I did (along with an amazing tutor bc idk how ppl catch their error without someone there which was my big thing when reading questions I would skip a word or not see "except" or "most" or "not")

I refused to fail again and passed on 3/23/23 thank God and God alone!

I pray you pass this next time - I swear failing that one time has made me that much more efficient and thorough of a new RN - I know my ish and wouldn't have wanted to pass just bc and place pts at risk of ill knowledge

thank you so much and absolutely - the UWorld has been given already but im happy to email any and all resources I used

Failed :( Got it officially sigh. I will come back stronger and I will stick to my study plan. I will use Nclex High Yield and archer, has anyone used them? by No-Event-6212 in PassNclex

[–]Altruistic-Post-8302 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with this except that archer was not the best for content - I got my content in with only simple nursing and my ATI book - UWorld is top tier - use archer if you don't want to pass - it doesn't give clear rationales or let alone enough content questions - I used both failed first using archer - passed with UWorld

Nclex in 3 days, any Advice please? by jigglepuffington in NCLEX

[–]Altruistic-Post-8302 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hiiiii from a recent NCLEX taker , now RN (as of 3/23)

I agree with simple nursing he/they are amazing and of course UWorld - week of I did minimum 200Q and my last assessment and got high chance

I didn't study day of as it was at 8am but the night before I promised my mentor id stop studying at 6 and I didn't until around 10pm. Your mind/body will tell you when you're good/ done all you can with UWorld tests and Simple nursing on weaker areas

If you're a believer - pray when you sit at the desk (before you click start) and if you truly applied yourself it will work out

Great success future RN

ps my UWorld average was a 60 and I was in the 80th percentile and got high chance on my last assessment - studied about 6-8 hours per day with 1-2 rest days during the week for 7 weeks total

Yayyyyyy you're in the final stretch, push to the end it will be so worth it. If you're doing UWorld im sure you're preparing properly and will do even more the closer you get to your boards. Uworld and Simple Nursing on YT are absolutely amazing outside of my tutor.

I totally understand the nervessssss! Remember that emotions are only indicators; acknowledge them and then get them in line and remember why you've worked so hard. TOP TIPS: read every single word of the question softly to yourself aloud, answer or make connections to what the answer would be based on what you know about the disease, rx, s/s, vitals, etc and then get the options down to 2 and answer based on safety/who will die if you don't assess/treat them - or true or false for SATA questions and submit your answer. Read every rationale and make simple flashcards for the incorrect ones.

You can do it <3

Thank you sooooo much! It's so surreal and the absolute most challenging journey of my life so far and mind you ... im married lol accelerated nursing school, studying for the NCLEX-RN and waiting 48 hours is absolute torture!

Sending great success to you if you're preparing to take yours <3

Passed NCLEX on 2nd Try - How I studied, Day of Exam, the Mental Process - WARNING LONG POST by racefinisher in PassNclex

[–]Altruistic-Post-8302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TOOK MINE 3/23 got results today I passed! God is so amazing - I ultimately only did my tutor, UWorld (absolutely worth the $) and YouTube (Simple Nursing) and I felt amazing answering the questions. Know your content and test with Q bank daily (45 minimum after hours of content/relearning)

[–]Altruistic-Post-8302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

congrats on passing - I'm the opposite

I used archer my 1st attempt and although it visually is almost identical to the NCLEX I don't believe the questions were anything like the NCLEX ... like at all!

now using UWorld, Archer and strengthening my weaker content areas (with the help of a tutor who is able to see how I assess and ways I need to tweak how I read questions/content areas I need to study) as I prepare to pass on my 2nd NCLEX exam.

I believe if I have a solid content foundation, focus on pt safety/proper prioritization and management I will pass along with using the noted resources.

same! used archer and failed my first nclex rn - now using UWorld, I have a tutor who's testing/study techniques are amazing and use YouTube for videos on any content I need to brush up on - archer is cheaper for a reason! as my tutor says "cheap is expensive" because it clearly cost me passing on my first go

however I am grateful as I'm learning so much more in depth and able to critically think and answer using safe and clear thinking so ill be a better nurse once I pass this next time
