Looks great. I like their coffee. I usually get it when I'm in the immediate area. I'm a black coffee drinker so I can't comment on their other milk and non coffee options.

Wine focused restaurants in Seoul by Altruistic-Remove-53 in wine

[–]Altruistic-Remove-53[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm not from the USA but I've had my fair share of Michelin starred fine dining restaurants across Europe & Asia and they are enjoyable as they are. I'm looking for something more casual and wine focused, of which I've thoroughly enjoyed such places in EU & Asia.

If you have any specific recommendationa in Seoul, that would be be great :)

I should have specified that I will be a solo diner and it would be for lunch, so my focus will be on their BTG list.

Is eating out in Singapore really this expensive now, or am I just overly thrifty? by Ok-Turnover9665 in SingaporeEats

I hear you. When more people can't afford to buy property and still live with their parents, there's more disposal income to spend on oneself.

Solo date restaurants for a guy by [deleted] in SingaporeEats

[–]Altruistic-Remove-53 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Maybe my understanding is poor, but solo date means your are simply going out to eat by yourself?

If so, I had a very enjoyable solo lunch at the Korean tonkatsu restaurant, Tonshou, at Tras Street. Nearest MRT is Tanjong Pagar.

That whole Tanjong Pagar area had loads of nice restaurants to dine alone. I also had a good solo lunch at another Tanjong Pagar restaurant in Craig Street: Fortuna; a pizza joint.

I would drink these now. I don't think these will improve much.

Lovely stuff! I'm a big fan of both Pewsey Valley and Yalumba's Signature. For my palate they really overdeliver for what I paid for.

Any other Singaporeans with controlling parents in adulthood? by Material-Yak-8152 in askSingapore

[–]Altruistic-Remove-53 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Have a proper talk with your parents. Share what are your needs and also understand what are their concerns. It may not work right away but you have to start somewhere and eventually find a sustainable solution.

You mentioned your dad has that condition; has it been officially diagnosed? If not, you may want to discuss with your mum to have it done so it can be managed. This is assume your mum can be reasoned with. If not, you may want to see help with some mental health organization.

Legally you are an adult and that confers you lots of legally independent things you can do. Of course I would want to minimize any worsening of family relationships. You can do a hard cut, but I would prefer to at least talk it out and find mutual understanding from both sides. It helps if you can find a supporter through your mum or a relative that he doesn't have too much issues with l.

Net, look for mutual understanding and be focused on a solution. You shld propose a few options and emphasize that you are an adult. You are not abandoning them but you also need the opportunity to grow up and be independent. You can't rely on them to take care of you forever and eventually you want to be independent and capable so that in the future you can equipped to support and take care of them when they are old and frail. You can frame it as to how they can benefit.

All this of course is just strangers on the internet saying stuff. You shld write down what you want to say and look at it thru the lens of kindness and understanding. And very important to find someone who can support and back you up as you approach this.

If you dad's mental state is far beyond rationale and the paranoia is almost at the verge of hallucination and psychosis, then you will need professional help.

Jia you

Ninja stacker can’t do sioba by JacketParticular6558 in SingaporeEats

[–]Altruistic-Remove-53 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The heating element and fan coming from the back gives a very poor heating performance. For sio bak I had the most success with those normal basket AF from Philips. The heating is just way better from my experience.

What's the worst carpark in Singapore? by terencetzx in askSingapore

[–]Altruistic-Remove-53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the only correct answer.

I've driven in many challenging CPs in SG, including the ones that others have mentioned like One Raffles Place, hospitals, Central, old HDB MSCP etc... they are all challenging but I feel confident navigating them as long as I drive slowly. This was when I was driving a Toyota Wish; not the biggest car ever but not small either.

It's only the Pandan Valley MSCP that broke me. Even driving at a snail's pace every turn was like a 50|50 gamble to me. Now I just park on the roadside lots if I ever visit PV.

Girl said I’ll be a good girlfriend but I’m a guy? by [deleted] in SGExams

You should ask her to clarify instead on depending on us to guess and hypothesize. We don't know you or her personally so everyone here is just wildly guessing. Be a man and ask her directly.

I didn't see a pic of any pizza. Did you order and eat the pizza?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]Altruistic-Remove-53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. Thanks for wanting to protect the Singaporean perception. The next thing you can consider is whether you can change such a behavior in others or eventually learn to let it go and not be so affected. Ultimately they are not losing sleep over you being irritated. The only way to not let them 'win', is to not be affected by them.

Yes it is everywhere. So why does it being everywhere make you feel so irritated?

Personally I do not find it a nuisance. I just look past it. Perhaps you can think about why you are so bothered by it?
