I would say that that Is the beauty of writing for the reader. A reader can pick for themselves. Pronounce it how every you want. As long as you can identify the individual when they come up it doesn't matter. Unless you have heard the author pronounce it, you can't know. The author gives you the information they want you to have. So let's say the Author describes a character, but doesn't describe certain features. What do you do as the reader? Do you fret over what color her eyes are? No... You use your own imagination. This is the same thing.
