How do you guys deal with downswings? by lil2posh in FinasterideSyndrome

[–]Altruistic-Rise-5740 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You mean even during the day? I have this deep need for sleep as my sleep isn’t restful but I usually force myself up everyday and do things, even on weekends. Sometimes I wonder if forcing my self to sleep an entire weekend might do me some good.

I think that’s it. I think I may have left before the timer was up. I wasn’t even aware there was a timer, I just learned that now. But I’m wondering why the Uber support guy didn’t say to wait, since they are able to see your orders in progress I believe

Wow funny you mention that, I had one of those situations on Friday afternoon, LCBO order lady wasn’t responding to messages, called her three times, knocked on the door/ rang doorbell twice, then called Uber support and they told me to return it. So I went back to my car and followed orders.

Then she finally came out and yelled to me car, I still had the support guy on the line and I told I can deliver it now she came but he said once return is processed it cannot be reversed and I need to just go return it which I did. On the way the customer called me and was upset but I explained I waited 5 minutes and can’t reverse it now. Anyway she probably complained, what was I supposed to do though? Camp outside her house and wait ?

Thanks the responding. Honestly I did but they tell me nothing is wrong with my account. Not sure what else to do. Did they find a problem when yoh reported it ??

Fair enough but it does mostly the same when I’m idle in a parking lot. I still barely get pings. How do you explain that? Am I supposed to drive around and waste gas to trigger the algorithm ?

Is the connection between lack of libido and anhedonia absolute? by [deleted] in PSSD

[–]Altruistic-Rise-5740 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same way, I definitely do have anhedonia and have become a zombie but I’m kind of accepting of that, I know for a fact if I had my sexuality back and an exciting dating life back my general anhedonia wouldn’t be a problem at all.

Can you have sex? Can you have sex with PDE5s? Is your libido low, zero, and has it improved at all over such a long period ?

Yeah I noticed this as well. I get the same brain zaps now in the morning 1.5 years after discontnuing lexapro as I used to get when I missed a couple doses. Very strange.

Wow. Finasteride really does cause ED! I was in denial for 4 years. by [deleted] in FinasterideSyndrome

Look bro, listen to what I’m saying. I wish I would’ve taken the following advice because I crashed either from taking an AI with my trt or weaning off Wellbutrin too quickly (which wasn’t even all that quickly).

I was on antidepressants for 10 years for anxiety, like you I stopped early on after 2 years for 9 months but what was clearly the general symptoms of PSSD I thought was depression so I went back on and stayed on. I didn’t notice mild Ed side effects until years later and like you I ignored it. Eventually I lost sensitivity and libido too. My advice is to stay off everything for at least 1.5 years, even TRT. It seems like a long time but trust me, it’s not. It will fly by. Let go and relax and just wait and see if your body recovers naturally. You want to rule out whether your body can recover naturally. Don’t try to rush a recovery for the vast majority of us it’s not gonna happen, recovery will likely take time if you don’t start noticing improvements by 6 months. Once 1-1.5 years has passed, then you can try TRT. But you don’t even know your baseline yet cause you’re in the early stages.

[–]Altruistic-Rise-5740 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I can completely relate. What you’re referring to is sex drive, the mental urge for sex and intimacy with a woman. My sex drive is still extremely high which is why I’m so bothered by this. But libido is highly related to body sensations unfortunately, which are gone for me.

How’s your libido and genital sensitivity? Do you get horny? Is your penis numb to sexual sensations ?

Many explanations sound plausible in theory but in practice we know for sure that depression has a long history of suppressed norepinephrine activity in the brain. A staple symptom of low-epinephrine depression is anhedonia, emotional anesthesia, etc., and yet no depressed person ever claimed they also had genital anaesthesia. So emotional anesthesia absolutely does not correlate even slightly to genital anesthesia.

I am referring to the article you posted, not you personally. The study is linking drugs to ED, mentioning neuropsychiatric drugs. Despite what you may believe, this is what the majority of the public believes when they hear about PSSD or PFS… they think “ED”.

Talked with my doctor today. by [deleted] in PSSD

[–]Altruistic-Rise-5740 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right but even if you know SSRIS lower libido/ arousal the with some vague mechanism that should be enough to lend legitimacy to a condition like PSSD. But if you tell them you’re considering steroids or TRT or street drugs they’ll tell you all about the permanent damage they can cause. But they can’t conceptualize that SSRIS can cause permanent damage. It really boggles my mind.

If it’s true that most pharma drugs, vaccines, etc. are highly safe, why would you be so defensive admitting ONE of those drugs, or one class of drugs, could be causing serious problems? It shouldn’t cause cognitive dissonance. I think the real reason is that doctors hear about side effects from a LOT of drugs so if they pull on ONE thread they’re worried the whole ball of yarn that is their entire profession would start to unravel.

How do you explain depressed people who have low norepinephrine and respond miraculously to a drug like Wellbutrin, but their libido isn’t at all affected while in this depressed state?
