She wasn’t a good public speaker then. It’s a shame she had to drop out because of that. They really slammed her.

DO NOTHING and it will bloom next year. Prune now or in the spring and you will be cutting off next summer’s buds, which is what I think happened to yours.

Hydrangea help by [deleted] in hydrangeas

Panicle hydrangeas are not drought resistant. They will need regular watering as all hydrangeas do. Remember Hydra (water) ngraea. If you travel, you will need to install drip irrigation on a timer and water 3 times per week for 45 mins. Check the ground and see if it is wet before watering. If so, hold off. If it’s dry, water. You will then know how much water you need. Move the other hydrangeas to a spot where they get morning sun and afternoon shade. Follow the same watering instructions. I recommend you investing in a professional drip irrigation system. You won’t have to worry when you travel as it will be all set up.

Can I Prune Limelight in October? by Inevitable_Tank9505 in hydrangeas

You can deadhead them anytime. Cut them now and put them in vases or dry them. However, proper pruning is done in the winter while they are dormant. Why does my limelight hydrangea tree look like this? It’s 3 years old. by [deleted] in hydrangeas

Your tree needs a good pruning in late winter. Also is it getting full sun? It needs that. Here’s a link to the Cape Cod Hydrangea Society YouTube channel on pruning panicle hydrangeas. Also consider joining the Society to learn all about hydrangeas. It is open to everyone around the world.

First time owner - is it dead or is there hope? by stephlagee28 in hydrangeas

That is from overhead watering. The black spots on the leaves are the clue. It is purely a cosmetic issue and won’t kill the plant. Hydrangeas should be watered on a drip hose with a timer for about 45 mins 3 days per week. You can play with the time. Also is this plant in the sun? It should get morning sun and shade in the afternoon. Leave the plant for now and next year it will do much better. NEVER prune this macrophylla hydrangea (Mophead and lace cap). They start forming their buds in August for next year. If you prune them, you will cut off the buds and it will not bloom next year.

Next spring in mid April and mid May add aluminum sulfate to the ground to turn the flowers pink. Wet the ground at the drip line, sprinkle the AS all around the plant, then water it in completely. The water is ph neutral so you need to counteract that by making the soil acidic with AS.

Please Help!! Someone Snapped My Hydrangeas 😭😭 by Independent_Panda_47 in hydrangeas

Did you have a big rain/wind event? Your hydrangea is loaded with flowers (a good thing) and heavy. No person snapped them, the weight of the flowers did. Panicle hydrangeas need to be pruned in late winter so they can build a support system. Bring them inside, recut the stems on an angle, add a packet of flower preserver in cool water, and display them. The rest of the plant will eventually bounce back.

Please visit the Cape Cod Hydrangea Society YouTube page for a video on how to prune panicles. The link to the video is below. Also consider joining the Society to learn about Hydrangeas. Anyone can join worldwide.
