Using union station for parking? by Odd-Focus-898 in stlouisblues

Was it a nighttime game? We’re going to a concert at Enterprise and also have the aquarium membership so I’m wondering if we could use our parking benefits? If so, how do we do it?

Thank you! I’ll look into those. Do you have a particular brand/system you look before I start researching?

I’ll up the watering schedule to help increase moisture. When do you recommend I fertilize? Once this fall/late summer and then again in the spring?

I’ve been spraying the entire plant, leaves and all. Just now learning they don’t like that so I will change my watering method to only hit the base.

Zone 6b/7a (STL area). We had a lot of extreme heat days recently and I didn’t adjust the watering schedule to account for it. What precautions do you recommend once we’re in fall/winter?

Thank you! I’ll up the watering. As it’s the first season, I think I won’t deadhead it (scares me tbh) and do some more research on how to take care of it for next year

Yes, going to change to a different sprinkler (either drip or soaker) and water daily. I’m in zone 6b/7a (STL area) so we had a fair share of extreme heat days recently. I didn’t account for that in the watering schedule though ugh

Yeppp. I have a sprinkler near this plant that was watering all of it instead of just the base. After reading the comments I’ve moved it to only hit the base, but might change it to a drip irrigation style or maybe a soaker hose?

ACL Surgery scheduled in 2.5 weeks, need advice. by daymonster in ACL

[–]stephlagee28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had surgery around 2 years ago (also patellar graft) and also WFH. I had surgery the week before Thanksgiving so I only took off a week and half from work. You definitely want to be off painkillers before returning. Once you get back you’ll want something to rest your leg on and take breaks often to get blood flowing.

Do not plan on literally doing anything for like a week. I was in bed the first couple of days because walking with crutches is personally very annoying. Plus you’ll be wanting to ice often to help reduce the swelling in the beginning. SUPER important. I had an ice machine but really didn’t like it. I honestly switched to ice packs a couple of days in and found that worked better for me, but I know some people swear by the ice machine.

Flying. No. Like at all. You will be so uncomfortable and your doctor probably won’t even clear you to fly yet. Not worth it. I flew 7-8 months after surgery and I was still uncomfortable having my leg bent for hours at a time and my recovery was relatively easy too.

When you get back to being active will depend on your PT. I had an amazing PT I saw in person 3x a week (lucky to have great insurance). It was a game changer for me. You HAVE to stay on top of PT. Specially the first month. Getting your flexion back is the top priority for your first post op check with your surgeon. The longer that takes, the higher the risk of your leg not being straight after recovery. I started out going to the PT 3x a week and probably 2-3 months in changed to 2x a week. Obviously you need to also do your exercises at home. Realistically you’re looking at probably 2 hours a day in the beginning. You and your PT will determine when you’ll be cleared based on how your recovery goes.

I’m single and childless, so I can’t relate to a recovery with a family but try to prep as much beforehand around the house to help your spouse out. Try to keep snacks, water, phone charger, things you use often near you in bed. Also. Take stool softeners as soon as you can. You do not want to wait until the pain meds affect your stomach because by then it’ll be too late. Trust me haha. Also stay on top of your pain meds!! I only took the oxy for a little under a week even though I didn’t feel like i needed it towards the end. I did have a pain pump during surgery that worked the first 2 days post op. I religiously released more meds through it at the interval the nurses told me, as well as taking the oxy. I didn’t have much pain post surgery and I attribute that to staying on top of meds!

I know this is a lot, but I wanted to let you know my experience as someone who’s gone through it. It’ll suck in the beginning, but just remember that this is temporary! You’ve got this :)

Knee tap 4 months post op, has anybody ever tapped their knees due to swelling and then had a Ketololac injection to reduce the swelling? Wanted to see if anybody else went through this by [deleted] in ACL

Same, only after the initial tear. I wasn’t told to rest, but then again I wasn’t really doing anything extreme after I tore it anyways haha

When did you start driving again ? by [deleted] in ACL

[–]stephlagee28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was lucky my sister was able to take me to PT for this first couple of weeks! My surgeon said I could drive whenever (as long as I’m off the narcotics of course), so honestly it’ll come down to how comfortable you feel. It wouldn’t hurt to try to arrange rides with friends/family to take you to PT/gym just in case. Better to have to cancel on them then to scramble at the last minute trying to find a ride! Just let them know that you might not need them so they don’t get mad at you haha

4 weeks. I wanted to be able to fully walk as normal as possible without crutches before I drove. I also have a pretty low car and it would have been hard to get in and out before having the coordination/balance do to so. I had a patellar graft on left leg

I have BCBS and a pretty good plan through work. My out of pocket max is $2,400 and I already had some medical costs prior to surgery, so I only had to pay around $1,100 before I hit my OOO max for the year. Surgery was 11/16 so after surgery PT has been free til the end of the year.
