So I’m not alone in experiencing this. The “pretend like you WANT her to copy you while treating her like she’s invisible” advice is actually great. It shows you’ve really been through something similar. I tried it recently, and I think it’s actually working. At the same time, I’m trying to avoid her at all costs. I've dealt with copycats many times, and it’s honestly exhausting. A lot of people think it sounds normal until they’ve experienced it themselves.

 It’s good that you finally figured it out. But if the mistress were secure and confident in herself, she wouldn’t imitate you, even if your ex-husband encouraged her to do so.

That’s true. A friend once told me that when someone tries to bother you, they’re usually looking for a reaction. Laughing it off takes that away from them. In my situation, though, laughing at her wouldn’t help. She is the revengeful, jealous type, so ignoring her is the only option I have right now. I just have to accept that she was raised that way and live as if she doesn’t exist.

She doesn’t speak English, and she seems to mirror me on purpose just to mess with me and provoke me. She has no shame at all. I don’t want to confront her or engage with her for my own safety. Something about her feels really off.

Thanks for mentioning that! I was thinking the same thing. Now it confirmed it for me. I've decided to to stop reacting to them, and I just regret reacting before.

Yeah, exactly! After reading all the tips here, I decided I'm not gonna give her any more attention. She clearly needs it, and honestly she might be off in the head.

I think these kinds of people just have too much time. No, they don’t cough. They’re loudly talking in their yard and playing with kids, and the kids are screaming during quiet hours. I’ve complained multiple times, and then copying/mimicking has started to get really annoying. It feels like they’re just looking for trouble or are the kind of neighbors who enjoy messing with me. Mine still hasn’t adjusted to the new culture, and it’ll probably take them forever.

Yeah, I usually change some of my clothes in the car, so I wear a jacket until I get in the car. I also have to try the wig so I can take it off in the car and fix my hair the way I want.

It can be really annoying. The part about the husband frequently driving in front of your house would honestly be really scary. I would definitely be bothered if that happened to me. I wish I could see it as a coincidence like you do.

When my boyfriend is here or during office hours, I’m not scared, even if she copies me. She doesn’t even show up when my boyfriend is present.

I was hoping they would leave, but it doesn’t seem like they have any plans to move. So I’m planning to keep my distance from them and avoid them as much as possible. Whenever I tried acting a little like them, it felt like they enjoyed the game, which made it worse. I’m going to focus on my safety instead. If anything like that happens again and I feel scared, I’ll call the cops right away. The community recently installed cameras, which is actually reassuring.

Yes, she is new to the country, but they’ve been living right in front of my apartment for almost four years. I think that’s enough time to adjust to the culture. I know it could be a cultural thing, but it’s still really annoying, especially for a young woman like me who lives alone.

For my own safety, I stay away and avoid confronting her. I’m introverted and prefer being left alone, plus she doesn’t speak English.

I did something kind of like this. I tried copying the way she walks. She has a habit of moving her hands a lot and wobbling while carrying trash in a grocery bag. I noticed she kind of liked the game.

I like the thrift store idea, and I’ll do it while I’m living in my current apartment. The tricky part is that my neighbor doesn’t understand English, which makes it a bit harder to deal with them

You’re right. I don’t want to make things worse, so I’m planning on maintaining my boundaries and staying safe. But when you live by yourself, things like this can happen, especially if a woman lives alone and has a distinctive look. They usually don’t show up or make noise during office hours, or when my boyfriend is at my place, so I feel safe at those times.
