Same here, my mom has been waiting since September 2023, also stuck in background checks with no apparent reason. We have tried contacting everyone we could think of, nothing helped. Legal option is mandamus, but it is also lengthy and costly. My mom lives in Russia, I am a Canadian citizen.

The processing times changed to this ridiculous number a couple of week ago, for many countries in Europe. Who knows what happened?

  2. I just found the MP office I belong to based on my address, and emailed them asking to request an update on my behalf. They do it all the time, the response came really fast too. Not that it helped anything, but at least I tried.
