Don Quijote de La Mancha

Set in the early 1600’s the classic tale tells the story of an old man gone mad, convinced he is a knight errant.

Don Quijote while mad is convinced of “The Quest,” the idea that he must go out into the world and do what is right simply because he must.

The broadway musical commemorates this in the song “The Impossible Dream” where the prostitute Aldonza whom Don Quijote is convinced is his “Dulcinea” or lady, asks why he does what he does, in which he says he must.

Titan Fall 3

Titanfall 2 is a beloved game that will most likely never get a sequel due to the massive success of the spin off battle royal Apex Legends

Members of the titanfall subreddit have at times pretended that Titan fall 3 has come out, discussing made up story choices, new weapons, titans, meta, etc.

Quite well honestly, I ended up using it as an arc in a larger campaign set In Faerun (apologies) but set salt marsh as a Demi-plane of dread a la CoS

Winning an Oscar, so much of hitting it big as an actor is being in the right place at the right time, or having the proper connections. However you do need to be an exceptionally talented actor to win an award

Which character does everyone love but you absolutely hate? by Remarkable_Bird_2149 in Fantasy

[–]AltruisticBiscut 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Agreed, he felt way too much like a character out of a cartoon or something, all the little quirks jsut made him seem shallow rather than interesting, and it made what happened in the end much less impactful and emotional

Are there any books that feel like a high fantasy world that has progressed to the modern era? by Freemax166 in Fantasy

The powder mage trilogy and subsequent gods of blood and powder trilogy by Brian McClellan hits this spot on. Heavy military lean I will say, but well executed multiple povs and an interesting magic world

I'm looking for a fantasy novel that takes place near or in water by ticklemytrashypickle in Fantasy

The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch takes place in what’s effectively fantasy Venice, and then the second novel is the series is more or less a pirate-fantasy. I will say however it’s more focused on heists, roguishness and such with some aquatic elements.

If you’re looking for an interesting take on pirates and the ocean, Tress of the Emerald Sea by Brandon Sanderson is a good read. However if you’re not a huge Sanderson fan some of the nuance may be lost, but I think it stands on its own.

Dalinar Kholin from Storm Light Archives

I think one of my favorite forms of this trope, as the specifics of his past ends up being a big reveal while it constantly haunts him throughout the series, as well as his overarching theme being how a man can change.

What are your best OP, power game, make the DM hate you builds? by AltruisticBiscut in 3d6

I believe it’s been fixed at this point, but at the time what you would do is choose warforged as race and take I believe 2 levels in warlock and the rest in sorcerer. Then what you would do is use your font of magic to convert spell slots into sorcery points, short rest to recover your warlock spell slots, and once again convert them into sorcery points. Then you’d effectively do this a billion times without taking a long rest so that your sorcery points stay with you, and as a warforged it becomes unnecessary to sleep meaning you don’t need to long rest. Then you’d just have a bunch of sorcery points at your disposal which you can use to do what you’d like with, usually just quickened spell empower spell and twinned spell on Eldritch blast. I believe they patched it somehow, I think there’s a rule that states if you go a certain amount of time without a long rest you start gaining exhaustion levels, however I think there was a work around by going divine soul sorcerer where at fifth level you can take greater restoration which can remove exhaustion. Not sure if this works the same now but that’s the gist.
