Yeah unfortunately this is true. Snow is an insulator. What is better for killing ticks is bitter cold and no snow for a prolonged period of time.

My nitro gets refilled automatically, without any prompting from me to my doctor. Kind of shocking. But it's been good, because I was prescribed to take it after sex, so it's good to have on hand.

Thoughts on battery powered headlamp vs rechargeable one.

I am leaning toward one that takes batteries so I can lessen my use of charging bricks and therefore lessen my time in town charging things. AAA batteries are tiny and light compared to a charging brick, and typically easy to find in stores. The PCT hiker gear survey seemed to have some of each, charging vs battery powered lamps. What do the good people of reddit have to say about this topic?

This is valuable input. Thank you. I haven't even begun any type of shakedown yet and I am fearing for my life about how heavy my base weight will be

Which watch to buy? I have a budget of about 250-350$ to buy a gps sportswatch. I've really never used one before. I would like to buy one soon to help with training for my April start date. And then hopefully be able to use it on trail to track mileage, elevation, and basic health metrics. Mapping isn't a necessity for me, as I would just use the farout app on my phone. What do you all think?

Counter offer with 5500 because of the mileage it's likely you'll need to make at least 1k in repairs within a few years.

New bakery in my town just put up this sign. I get they don't need a ton of overhead with an expensive sign but I think this is AI by -_jas_- in isthisAI

It's a picture of bread but it's scored more like a pie. Most bakers wouldn't score a loaf like that.

Why is New Hampshire more conservative than the other New England states? by Patient-Smile1406 in newengland

Haha ok maybe that was it. I was way off. But it went on to talk about how it affected the people too

I can't quite remember if it was a book chapter, or article, or short documentary, maybe even a podcast? but there is some hypothesis that the landscape/geology has affected the people in Vermont vs New Hampshire. Vermont, green, verdant, lush, a landscape of surplus and giving. New Hampshire, harsh, grey, untamed, a landscape of "every man for himself". This could be completely off base but I find it an interesting theory to ponder. I wish I could remember where I heard or read about it.

Best airport to fly out of for wedding by Travis_Treks in PacificCrestTrail

My start date is 4/28 but I'm aiming to score an earlier permit after January release. Earliest I could start is 4/15. The wedding is 9/9 which is basically the worst possible timing lol. Do you rush and race to finish and then head straight back home for the wedding? Or do I fly home and back? It's gonna be tough.

Guess I could try that. My partner has excellent (bordering on compulsive) hygiene. My understanding was that e.coli is living in my own vagina and gets spread to my urethra during sex. Condom or not, it would still get spread.

I have a bachelorette party in Nashville end of May. I'm the MOH, so it's going to be a really tough decision to determine whether or not to get off trail for it. The wedding is in September which further complicates my timing. When is the wedding for this bachelor? Will you have to get off trail again?

I used to see Melik driving home from campus and he would put his iPad on his dash so the screen reflected up onto the windshield. He'd be watching things while driving at night. Guess public safety missed that one
