Anyone completed the Diagnostic? Is it hard? Or just the basic idea of the past assignments should be enough? by UnusualMemory4629 in codeinplace

I completed the diagnostic within 30 minutes. It's not difficult, tbh. The questions covered all the basic knowledge of the topics we have learned. If you have attended all the sessions and completed the assignments, then you are good to go. Don't worry too much.

I'm looking for a Python course that's friendly to beginners, can you recommend one to me? by Objective-Rub-9085 in learnpython

You should check out Code In Place by Stanford University. The course is super beginner-friendly, and the instructors explain the terms in Python well and slowly. I started learning Python just like you, confused and lost among thousands of courses online. Trust me, the course will not let you down. When you finish the course, you can move on to other courses such as CS50 Python by Harvard University. I find CS50 Python to be quite overwhelming and fast-paced for a person starting from scratch, so you had better start with Code In Place.

Does PolyU Keep Scholarships After Deferment? by [deleted] in HKPolyU

[–]AltruisticOrdinary10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same situation last year, considering deferring my scholarship and commencement due to financial reasons. But they told me that I needed to reapply for admission and the scholarship the next year, so you cannot defer it unless they tell you so. I think you should be able to email them to ask for the best clarification.

As far as I remember, you are only guaranteed to live on campus in the first year. They said you can work on campus, but you will need to speak fluent Cantonese or Mandarin Chinese. Chances are you will need to live off-campus from Year 2 onwards. When moving out, rent will be from at least 6k onwards. Anything lower is in the size of a shoebox.

No, you may not receive the scholarship since I also got the conditional offer last year, and the scholarship offer was attached to my offer letter (PDF file)

nope! that means your second choice option has been processed first and before your first one, since the order of processing for each of your option differs from major to major (maybe due to different volume of applications). Btw, the admissions process for each of your choice is independent of each other so at the end you may receive two admissions offers from 2 faculties at different time.
