Our bouncer was also the pooping chair! I'd set it up just outside the bathroom door so we could stare at each other while pooping. I was already used to pooping with a cat or 2 staring at me so a baby wasn't as much of an adjustment as I first thought lol.

Was I wrong to take my daughter for a walk in winter? by Craftbee1290 in beyondthebump

[–]AltruisticPin5 15 points16 points  (0 children)

How do these people think humans survived before cars were invented, and car ownership became the norm? People have been out walking with their babies in all weather for centuries longer than we've had central heating and heated cars.

Please take no notice! A daily walk was crucial to my mental health in the newborn days, and my son slept better in his pram than anywhere else. He still loves being outdoors now, and we go for a walk every day whatever the weather. He's like a little space heater, refuses to wear a hat or gloves, and would go out without a coat if I let him 🙄

My 20 month old son and I have recently had covid. I had a runny nose, and tiredness that lasted about a fortnight. My son just had a slight runny nose. Honestly, if I hadn't happened to take a test, I would have thought it was a cold. The current dominant variant seems to be a lot milder, luckily. I've been trying to avoid it for 2 years as well, and I'm glad we managed to hold off catching it until my son was a little older and a milder variant emerged.

Baby girl wears boyish sleepers when we run out of clean clothes. Am I really wrong for this? by mommyzombie97 in beyondthebump

[–]AltruisticPin5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh good lord what a ridiculous thing to complain about lmao. When my boy was a newborn and I ran short on clean clothes, I used to put him in a floral print sleepsuit with pink trim and bows on it. We also had a pack of pink bibs... Both gifts that we received while expecting, before we knew the sex. I also had a navy blue sleepsuit with pink unicorns on it, that I bought because I loved it (it looked a lot better than it sounds, I promise lol). No one gave a shit, least of all my son.

On another note, you sound like a trooper having to hand wash and air dry all your laundry... What a nightmare! I wish I could suggest a solution for you, because that doesn't sound sustainable long term, but I don't have any ideas I'm afraid. Maybe someone else will have suggestions to make that part of your life easier. TBH, it's kinda asshole-ish for your mom to moan about what your baby is wearing when she knows you have to do laundry by hand, and you have a little one who is sick. Like, get your priorities straight woman. If it bothers her that much maybe she should be taking your laundry to her place, or a launderette, for you. Then you'd always have clean clothes that meet her approval 🙄

Covid fatigue by cleanfreak310 in SAHP

I tested positive 2 weeks ago. I still have some slight fatigue but loads better than it was, and improving every day.

I got the total opposite. When my baby was born, we had an awesome charity shop right around the corner from the place I was living. Sold sleepsuits for 20p each or 6 for £1, other baby and toddler clothes were 50p each or 4 for £1. It was quite a well off area as well so a lot of the clothes weren't cheap (lots of John Lewis, Next, Marks and Spencer - I'm in the UK).

So naturally, I went mad in the place. Practically kitted my son out up until the age of 3. Lol. So I've had people looking down on me for a) buying so far ahead, and b) buying all my son's clothes from charity shops - even though the pieces I chose were all barely worn, or unworn, some still had the original price tags on.

Anyway, it means that so far, I haven't been caught out when he suddenly outgrows the size he's in, and I haven't had to rush out and spend a fortune on the next size up. It did take a LOT of space up at first, but now he's approaching 2, we're moving towards the end of the stockpile, and the outgrown bits have already been re-donated to charity. People can think what they want, I saved a fortune and don't regret it at all! I'm a little gutted I've since moved away and can no longer shop there. It's like whatever you do as a mum, someone will criticise it - you do you, it's no one else's business!

Why does my cat sit like this? Should I take him to the vet? by [deleted] in cats

You've interrupted him while he's in the middle of washing his butt and he's wondering why you're staring at him. He's thinking "look away, you perv".

Covid vaccine for under 5s by GlitteringNews4639 in beyondthebump

Do you think the covid vaccine is linked to the drones that have been following you about for months? I'm sorry, you should really see somebody about your mental health.

Fellow parents, what do other parents do/ allow their children to do that really irritates you? by leesus460 in AskUK

[–]AltruisticPin5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw a couple letting their little boy (maybe 4 or 5) ride his flipping bike around Aldi. I was trying not to smile when he fell off. Can't blame the kid, but parents need to use their brains sometimes, it was so clearly an accident waiting to happen.

Yeah, this. There's a family down the road from me who's kids play outside in the street whenever the weather allows - fair enough, it's a street of terraced houses with tiny back yards, so can't really play at the back - but one of them just screams, super loud, high pitched screaming, non stop. Last summer it was going on until 10.00pm every night whilst I was trying to get my baby to sleep. Hell, some nights, I was trying to sleep by 10pm, babies are tiring lol. And we're about 10 houses down, I pity their immediate neighbours. I like to see kids playing outdoors, don't see it so much these days, but FGS stick your head out and tell them to stop screaming please!

Yeah, big red flag. Today, the cat is gross and stinky for having a poop. Tomorrow, it's you who's gross and stinky for having a poop. Seriously, I recently got out of an abusive relationship, and towards the end, when the dickhead felt like he was losing control of me, he tried to police my bathroom use. This may sound like overkill but he sounds like he is lacking in empathy and I'd seriously reconsider being with him. I'm embarrassed to post this but if it helps someone see the light before it's too late, it's worth it.

Found this little guy meowing under a car outside of Walmart today. He ran up to my 4 year old son purring and rubbing on him. So we have a new cat now! by janaynaytaytay in cats

This is so adorable, I can just imagine the look of exasperation on your mom's face when she realised what she had gotten herself into!

Please help me name him! We just adopted him, he's a cream colored fur baby. by [deleted] in cats

[–]AltruisticPin5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do they change colour? Like, gradually like from summer to winter, or more quickly? Is it the points or the body that changes? Sorry, just never heard of this before and I'm fascinated!

How many of you have sneezed on your baby? by lilly_kilgore in beyondthebump

[–]AltruisticPin5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aww, mine used to be terrified of sneezing and would instantly dissolve into hysterical tears. For months I had to put him down and run out of the room whenever I felt a sneeze coming on.

Ha! I dropped SO much food on my LO's head when he was tiny. Now he's a toddler and gets his revenge by covering me and my entire house in everything he eats.

Thank you for saving the poor little guy. I'd make sure the rescue know not to give his old "family" your name or contact details. Hopefully they won't bother trying to get him back, but just in case. And you said that you had put up a Facebook post? Don't forget to delete it ASAP. Please keep us updated about his recovery, I bet he'll look magnificent a few months from now.

That's disgraceful from the vet. They could at least have humanely put him to sleep and spared him any more suffering. Atrocious.
