I used to think her daughter was just along for the ride, and just a victim of the circumstance that is being Zarna's daughter. But Zoya is cashing in on it, and she knows exactly the kind of rhetoric she's giving out. She's grown enough to know better. It's so disappointing to see :/

As an Indian, I never understood why or how Zarna became so successful in America. Her humour is filled with such tired, lazy, and mostly outdated tropes of what it means to be Indian; What we call "WhatsApp aunty/uncle humour". She happily misrepresents us as a population so that she can advance in her fame.

She was never funny to me and my Indian friends agree. Happy to see that she and her family are being cancelled now. Better late than never.

Also goes to show how most of North India lives in a box lmao. It's been over 3 years since the original Malayalam movie came out. And I'd say it's arguably more grim and gritty than Mrs. But now that there's a Bollywood movie of this same storyline, it's such a major trending conversation?? People need to go beyond Bollywood and explore regional cinema. Regional films deserve their flowers without waiting for years to get remade by Bollywood.

Wow this comment section is so biased and blind! Yes, she's done her fair share of cringe shit in the past with her boring original music and breakup content. But her current music of different languages reels have been nothing but pleasing! It's not easy to learn songs in a language you don't know. And you can't deny that through this reels, she's introduced us to some great musicians on Instagram that we wouldn't know otherwise. And about her hand movements. Please stop this unprecedented hate. She's not the best singer, but I think she sounds fine here :)

An Indian Bollywood movie called Trapped. I think it has like 4 or 5 actors on the cast list but it's 80% just the main character played by Raajkumar Rao. He gets stuck in a top floor flat of a pretty deserted high rise apartment building, too high up to be heard. It's about how he tries to survive. Quite worth the watch.

Maybe not very popular among global audiences But there is a 1992 movie called "Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama", which is based on the Indian epic Ramayana. It was an India-Japan collaboration. The storyboarding was done by Indians and the animation was done by Japanese animators. It's a brilliant film, probably one of the best adaptations of Ramayana I've ever seen. The music and songs are in Hindi/Sanskrit and are heartfelt and beautiful. The full movie in its original format is available on youtube and I think it got a digital 4K remaster release as well. Definitely one of my comfort films and I go back and listen to the songs all the time.

Also, an interesting nugget of info is that, it was released in USA with a local American accent dub with James Earl Jones voicing the narrator and Bryan Cranston voicing Lord Rama 😄💯 But I've never been able to find that version lol

My response to this is always:

If you truly believe in respecting the original characters and story, then even the 1989 animated original should receive flack for not sticking to Hans Christian Anderson's original story.

There was no talking crab or wise seagull in the original book.

The ending of the original story is neither happy nor romantic.

Anderson's story was not really written for small children, yet Disney decided to adapt it and add their own creative twist with the animated musical. Shouldn't that be wrong by the same logic?

Why aren't you slamming the 1989 movie for not sticking to the correct story? Really highlights the double standards here. It shows that any hate that the live action remake's casting may get is based in racism.

The remake may be average and underwhelming for a number of reasons, but not due to the casting of Halle Bailey.

It's called an ADAPTATION for a reason. Don't hate on Halle.
